Chances of getting in?

Hi, I am currently a rising senior and would like to hear your opinions on my chances of getting into FSU.

GPA: 4.02 weighted (Many AP and Duel Enrollment classes)
SAT: 1090
ACT: 23

Varsity Athlete, many clubs, just cant seem to get my test scores up.

I never took the SAT, but isn’t that a considerably low score?

Your test scores are a little bit low, but your GPA isn’t bad. Dual-enrollment should help you a bit, as well as AP classes. If you apply for the first deadline, you have a decent-to-good chance to get in. If you wait for the second deadline, then I’d check elsewhere for colleges. It’s much more competitive. Assuming you have an upward trend in your academics, you’ll have a good application (for the first deadline).

protip: Most colleges (FSU is one of them) look at all 3 sections of your SAT score to get the total, so don’t feel the need to deduct your writing score.

Also, are you sure that is your FSU weighted GPA or is it just what your school has it weighted as? Your actual FSU weighted GPA will usually be a little lower.

1090/2400 or 1090/1600???

keep taking the SAT and ACT. FSU takes the best scores from the different tests. My son got a 30 on the math ACT one time but a better verbal on another ACT…they used the better verbal and the 30 math; same with SAT – they will use the best result of however many test results you have…my son complained bitterly about my making him retake the tests several times, but his scores were similar to yours his first time out and he wasn’t particularly strong in that type of test taking but he ended up with combined ACT of 27 and SAT math and verbal of 1150…he also had a lot of APs, similar GPA and activities
I think I made him take both 4 times…like I said he hated it…but he got in with the first set of applicants.

Thanks for the help! Thats 1090 with just reading and math. Do you have ant other tips for my application? Any particular clubs or activities that could help me?

You’re application will be strong just as long as you can bank a little higher on your SAT. I got in with an 1120, no sports, nerdy clubs and a 3.6. So, your extra curriculars are good, just try to get your SAT to 1150+ Range. Get a bunch of SAT books. Also, try to take the ACT, it worked for some of my mates they did better on it than the SAT.
