Chances of getting in?

I am currently a high school junior, I have a 3.9 GPA, taking 2 APs and one honors class this year, the rest of my classes are college prep. I don't have any extracurriculars so far, but I do plan on joining 3 clubs, taking up a job, and volunteering at a hospital &/0r clinic. I am looking at UCLA as one of my goal schools to get into, but what are my chances of getting in? I don't have any ECs like most applicants do... Any advice?

my advice is to basically be a president of ONE club. my friend got into ucla because he was a club president…but the club died once we left high school. however EC are not the only thing to be worried about. you have to have at least a decent SAT like i had 1600 and im asian…like downright straight blood asian from my motherland hahah. so english wasn’t my forte. and good ap scores. like mine was all 5’s

so basically EC officer at least president is good
good SAT score
good AP score
and volunteering helps
work…doens’t really apply here id have to say.
it helps to be a minority like black hispanic etc but if u arn’t, u can’t change that hahaha

gluck and keep up the hard work. id suggest Ms. Sun’s page. she helped me a lot!

actually work helps more than volunteering

All you need is a 4.38 weighted GPA and a 2030 SAT and you should be set. :)

Or you could be like me: Just dump along through high school, have not a stellar GPA, but destroy the ACT and SAT. I was class rank 150 or so out of 400 kids at a crappy public school, but I got a 35 ACT, and a 2250 SAT to save my lazy ass.

Or get in like me: have a 3.5 high school gpa, party hard your senior year and get a 1.8 gpa final semester, then go to a community college for 2 years and work hard, then transfer as a junior

Since for some reason I can’t quote people, i’ll do it like this…

@ noxfinite : I am planning on doing a lot of volunteer activities, however in ONE I know I will become the office at least next year. I also plan on getting a job, volunteering at a hospital and clinic, & i’ll take classes & study extra hard for the SAT. Sound like a plan? lol.

@ skiboyne : Ho Lee She Yat -_- ! How did you even bust up with a score like that?!

@ bravesucia : No way. Community college is a NO NO. Goodluck with your studies though
