Chances of getting in?

Sorry for the length, but I thought a lot of information might help. UNC-CH is my #1 choice, so I'm really hoping I'll be accepted.

May 2010 SAT:
650 Reading
520 Math (yeah I know it’s low)
660 Writing

-Early decision
-Rural-ish county in NC (but still 4 high schools)
-Caucasian male

-Class rank: 12/ 208 which puts me in the top 5.7%.
-I know for a fact my recommendation letter was good, since my teacher let me read it after she submitted it.
-I think my essays were good. I wrote about my disabled sister (who is currently dying) and how she has been a hero in my life for one of them.

I’ve also had a job working around 25-30 hours each week since I was 14 (I got the job November of Freshman year). I was promoted to shift leader at 15 due to my leadership skills and work ethic (“prestegious” fast food restaurant if you will). I know several people who are higher than me in my class who are also applying to UNC, so I’m worried this might adversely affect my chances. What do you think?

SO, what DO you think?

Judging from last year’s statistics, I think I have a 50/50 chance :)

You have a chance bc you are from a rural town. That is on your side. Same person coming from Charlotte would have a harder time. Good Luck!

Wow, we have near identical stats. Right down to having the same job since freshman year, great grades except the math, and the 520 math.

I got in so you certainly have a shot. UNC is a great school and I am so happy to be here however I do feel a bit below the average when it comes to intellect. : /

Here is my chances thread from last year. I am glad to have that done with, I don’t envy your position.

Maybe I overlooked your GPA but it should be around a 4.5 to get in.

It’s currently a 4.43, but after this semester it’ll be a 4.53
