Interesting thread.

Okay you’re in. Happy?

Lol I find it funny how in the previous thread you were all like HARVARD IS FULL OF ARROGANT NERDS SO I DONT WANT TO GO THERE but you say things like

I don’t think he was kidding.

I don’t think someone who’s made nearly 800 posts on this site would be that uninformed.

so i guess I’m a maybe for Harvard like everyone else? obviously more of a maybe than a lot of other people

I sincerely hope you don’t come across in your essays like you do here, a bit entitled and overly optimistic.

what does that even mean?

OP: you’ve been told that your metrics are on the lower end of admitted students. How does that translate to being “more of a maybe” than others? It would seem “less of a maybe”, no?

That, combined with your shallow stereotyping of Ivy students doesn’t bode well for you in terms of Harvard admissions, I’m afraid.

But it’s obvious that you’re quite accomplished and almost assuredly, you’ll have a very successful collegiate career. Best of luck to you.

well “less of a maybe” would be more a certain outcome whereas “more of a maybe” is more up in the air. thanks to you all for the feedback. my college essay is pretty hipster and kind of a risk. i use sarcasm and references to pop culture. according to my teacher it’s a “how I think” college essay and to another teacher it’s very memorable.

If you get into one, there is a good chance you’ll have gotten into several. The criteria is similar for each, don’t be fooled. Retake the SAT or SAT II’s in December or January and get a better score, otherwise nice job.

Impossible. There’s only one Ivy League.

^ good call bro

I honestly do not think anyone can predict who will get accepted to Harvard. My DD (presently a Junior - Pre-Med) had lower scores and was 8th in a class of maybe 170. She also got accepted and waitlisted at other Ivies…She is doing outstanding there and very active in many areas of campus life. Harvard has a way of picking a class of kids who indeed deserve to be there, regardless of how high they score on a particular test. It is obvious to us that they saw something in our DD that they wanted, and we will never know exactly what that is, but we are forever grateful. I believe you should apply, without expectation, and simply be proud of yourself for all the hard work and dedication that you have all shown thus far in your lives. Just GO FOR IT! You will never know unless you try, but you will probably always wonder if you don’t. Good luck!

Actually, you can file a request to see your application and the notes that the admissions committee made on it.

Actually, one of my DD roomies works in admissions and has told her she can come and look at it. It probably would be interesting to see!

Its possible to be admitted to all 3 == HYP == over the past decade, I know many kids who have gotten into all 3 from public schools – but their stats were pretty much all round perfect and they had incredible leadership and extracurs to boot…I ALSO know equally well qualified kids who only got into 1 or 2 of these schools and some who were rejected by all. So given what you have posted here, sure throw in an application but have no expectations and look for some matches and safeties you would be happy to attend. And then cross your fingers.

model senate? its all about model UN man

uhm is a 1990/ 1940 SAT going to doom me?

How do you do this, and is it just a Harvard thing?
