My weighted GPA is currently a 3.4 weighted and I’m in all IB classes which is why my unweighted GPA is so low. My GPA does show an upward trend and after this semester it should be 3.5+. Will my unweighted GPA prevent me from getting into a good college? I know I could easily get a 4.0 in regular classes but IB classes are way harder and my grades freshman year and second semester of sophomore year weren’t great. For ECs I have Track which I’m going to do for 2 years and lots of CAS activities required for IB. I’m looking to get into a college like CU Boulder and I’m in state if that will help my chances.

You definitely want to get that up to a 3.5 for a good shot at a decently competitive state school. Work hard. Colleges do take into consideration that IB, AP, and honors classes are more difficult. Don’t quit because you’re a little down. I brought my gpa up to almost a four after a bad freshman year. Really apply yourself in school, do some meaningful ec’s and volunteer work, and start consistent sat prep. You have time! good luck
