SAT: I took it a long time ago just to see what it was like( i didnt study for it or take it seriously and I guessed on every question that i didn't know)
math 600 verbal 500
It will be much better in the future maybe around 1400 and 32-33 for the ACT

I started off at the bottom and worked my way up to the top. in 9th grade i had a 4.0 but was ranked 53/350.
I go to school in high school in illinois.

I'd like to go to:
harvard
berkley
northwestern
stanford
emory
vanderbilt
cornell
safety school: U of Illinois in urbana
Do any of you think I could get in? I need some advice about what I could do to improve my chances as I still have my junior year left before I start applying.

Until you get some respectable SAT scores you can cross all the ivies off your list. A 1400 is not an easy score to get, but even with that score HYPS will still be reaches. Your GPA and rank look great, but we will need your new and improved SAT scores in order to better find a fit for you. Also, a B in drivers ed. Thats kind of funny. Good luck and study hard for those SATs.

Moreover, your low SAT scores indicate that your GPA is HIGHLY inflated and that you attend a less than stellar school (the latter of course isn't your fault). Also, I don't know how you can project that you will be top in your class when you still have 1.5 years of school still to go. Your list of ECs will appear on almost all applicants' applications.

Attending a University in joint enrollment is not an EC.

Your grades are incredible. Your african right, so play the race card. Being black, middle eastern will play to your advantage. If you want to even think about going into a Ivy league, you need to meet the minimums. You definetly need a 2100 SAT reasoning. For almost all the colleges and universities you listed you need at least 3 SAT II grades.

How can you predict your junior/senior year grades as well as assume that you will be valedictorian? I dont mean to be rude, but other than our prediction of what could possibly happen if you were to end up thattt perfect, you probably aren't benefiting from this thread, as all honest opinions will no doubt be skewed by the numbers you are laying before us.

Just a note here--while it's nice that you want to "go to an Ivy", it really helps if you have some idea about the different schools--because they are about as different from each other as schools can be.

Applying to these schools without understanding how they are different will also be one method for being sure you are rejected. On the other hand, indicating why you chose one school over the other works on your behalf to make you more appealing to the schools. (You asked how to make your application more successful--this is one key method).

Lastly, a previous poster was correct when he said that a 1400 (1400/1600, or 2100/2400) is somewhat suspect for an Ivy--but then it depends on which Ivy league school--since some are much tougher than others. Generally a 1500/1600 or 2250/2400 will get you looked at closely at all the schools, while even a 2400/2400 will not guarantee you admission to some of them (although it would obviously help your cause).

These schools check out ALL the information you submit--and they really want the student that understands that there is more to life than grades and test scores--and that these are just the beginning steps to being an outstanding student.
