Chances of getting into any UC? Especially UCSD.

Hi, I've been freaking out about UC admissions for a while, so will someone please chance me for getting into any of the UCs I applied to?

UCLA
UC Berkeley
UCSD
UC Davis
UC Santa Cruz
UC Irvine
UC Santa Barbara
Bio Majors for all

My family isn't poor at all, and both of my parents graduated from college. I'm asian.

Current UC GPA (minus my senior year grades) : 4.0
UC GPA plus first semester senior grades: 3.82 (but I'm going to try to make this go up by the end of the school year)

4 years of Band
2 years of French, plus 1 one more of French taken at community colleges (A's both semesters)
4 years of Math (with AP Calc AB junior year and AP Stats senior year)
3 years of Social Science (AP Gov senior year)
4 years of English (AP English Lit junior year, AP English Comp senior year)
4 years of Science (AP Bio junior year)

AP SCORES:
AP Calc AB - 5
AP Bio - 4
AP English Lit - 4

SAT Score: Math 780 Verbal 780 Writing 750 TOTAL: 2310

SAT II: Ecological Biology 720 Math IIC 750

Awards/Honors:
Best Section (Flutes) in marching band (but not a section leader or anything)
Certificate of Merit Level 9 in piano
National Merit Semifinalist

Extracurriculars:
Marching band 9th,10th, 12th grade
Piano 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade

Community Service:
Key Club 9th, 10th
Regency 9th, 10th , 11th
(but these added together do not even make up to 100 hours of community service)

Work Experience:
Customer Service for 10th, 11th, 12th grade. Year-round, general job. Picking up phones, updating company data, assistant, employee communications, etc. Saved earnings and used some to pay for a summer program at Columbia University.

Essays:
Ehh, I don't know. I revised one and wrote one the night before the apps were due, so it was definitely rushed.

Another thing to take into account would be that my SAT score reports were sent into campuses by collegeboard on Jan 7th, and they still haven't put them on file from what I can see on the UC application status site. I don't know how much my admission is jeopardized from that, since UC says that they need the score reports by late January.

The #1 UC I want to go to is definitely San Diego, but I know they have some crazy point system, and I'm not sure I'll have enough to make the cut. So, what are my chances?

Personally I think you have a good shot at all the UCs and I would be surprised if you got rejected by UCSD with those SAT scores

your SAT score is really good. I think you’ll get into all of the UCs. I got into Berkeley and go to UCLA, and while my extracurriculars were stronger, my SAT score wasn’t as good. good luck! I’d be very surprised if UCSD rejected you.

I don’t see any UC rejections in your near future. GOOD LUCK

CKG:

Sorry for the nosiness, but did you have any leadership positions? I know that it’s a real weak point for me, and having zero leadership positions makes me feel pretty shaky about being admitted (especially since leadership positions count as like, 300 points in the UCSD point system).

Also, I’ve heard that UC’s don’t care about essays like private universities do. Would you agree? While one of my essays were pretty okay, the other one wasn’t so hot at all.

Ah, and last thing, are they really picky picky about senior grades? I’m about to get a high D or low C for my final grade in my AP English Language class (I know, I’ve been slacking off.). Do you think that would make them revoke whatever acceptances I receive?

^ I would be worried about that D more than the lack of leadership positions.
And I do believe that essays arent factored in as much as they are in private universities – with the obscene amount of applicants, it seems highly unlikely that they truly read EVERY application.

UCSD seems like a solid solid match for you, especially with those scores.

LA and Berkley would be the only mid-high reaches.
Good luck!

ur stats are all fine >: u should get in almost all the UC at least
Chance me please

that’s not nosy at all! I didn’t have any really impressive leadership positions, but I was an editor my school paper (a really highly ranked student newspaper, comes out often, being an editor was really time consuming blah blah). no other leadership positions for me–I did a lot of theater, acted in some films, played piano, and that’s about it!

I agree that essays aren’t as important as they are when applying to private schools. I wouldn’t be too concerned if your essays weren’t your strong suit. the UCs are really numbers-driven, which is why I think your high SAT score will help you a lot.

first semester senior year grades do count (not second semester, as long as you pass). so I might be concerned about that D. if you can get a C, you’ll probably be okay. I would talk to your teacher and do whatever it takes to get a C or C-, if that’s a possibility at this point. is your GPA still 3.82 with the C/D factored in?

I talked to my teacher and turned in my final essay, which is weighted very heavily. I calculated it, and if i get at least a 65/100 on my essay, my grade will go up to a C-. I’m almost positive it will be well above that, so I think I fixed the “D in English” situation.

As of now, before my last 3 finals in APStats, Physio, and APGov, my grades are;

Physio: B- (Will probably get to a solid B or B+ after final. I studied a lot.)
APGov: C+ (If I do really well, which I have never done on a gov test in the past, I could get it up to a B. If I do really badly, I’m fearing a D? I don’t know if it would go down that low.)
APEnglish: C (I’m guessing. My grade hasn’t been updated yet.)
APStats: C+ (Again, I think I could raise it if I got a good grade on this last final. I’m semi-positive I can pull through with an A on the exam.)
Band: A (does this even count anymore?)

If these were my final grades for the semester (3 C’s, 1 B, 1 A), would I be in danger of having an acceptance revoked? I heard that you need to maintain a 3.0, but is that weighted/unweighted? Also, is this a 3.0 for my 1st semester senior grades alone, or a 3.0 with my senior grades added on to my previous grades?

Thanks!
