I never post on websites like these, but I am dying to know.
& sorry if I posted in the wrong section.

I want to know my chances of getting into Cal Poly Pomona...OR any other CSU/UC such as UCI, UCD. I applied to almost every UC and CSU because I am desperate to go somewhere. :(

GPA: 3.2 out of 4.0 unweighted (only took a few honors in my high school career)
(note: LOTS of improvement over the years. Had a 2.0 8th grade, 2.6 9th grade, 3.0 10th grade, and 3.6 11th grade. Right now I have a 3.8 :) ) see the trend? I am trying hard!

ACT: 21 (Math: 29, Reading: 13, English: 22, Science: 21, Essay 10)

SAT 2's:
Korean: 800
Math: 740

LOTS of leadership positions/extra curricular's. (Varsity Track & Field, cross country, Varsity Speech & Debate, Key Club Board (Tech. Editor), FBLA President, Yearbook Staff, over 200+ hours of volunteering around the community)

LOTS of awards: Trophies/medals from track, speech & debate (state qualifier), Microsoft Certification (MCITP), Web Programming Certification, many other smalls ones.

I want to major in computer engineering.

Someone please help me!

Your 9th grade grades are not counted with UC/CSU, so that’s good, but they won’t see 1st sememster Senior year, so that’s not good. Your unweighted GPA is 3.3 approx. Your weighted GPA, the “UC GPA” gives +1 grade for AP and some Honors classes (e.g. Honors Chem, Honors Physics, Honors Math Analysis).

The ACT 21 and let’s say 3.35 UC GPA would match you to most of the CSUs, possibly even Pomona, but not to any UC except possibly Riverside and Merced.

Your Reading score of 13 suggests either you’re an English learner, or you messed up your answer sheet. Have you re-taken the ACT?

thank you so much for replying!

For the ACT, I just messed up really bad on my answer sheet. I have not retaken the ACT. I signed up to take it last saturday, but missed it because I was really sick and could not get it at all.
I am fine with not going to a UC, but I really hope that I get accepted to a CSU.

once again. thank you very much for you reply. I am glad to know that I still stand a chance of getting somewhere. Especially Cal Poly.

send in your first quarter grades.

Is it possible to do that?
for CSU’s?

i don’t know but that’s what I did for the college I applied to so far. I just had my counselor send it in.

You’ll get into the CSU system, no problem. Which Math Sat II did you receive a score of 740? To me that shows that you’re bright. If you’re a late bloomer, you may want to consider a JC. If you do very well in JC, you can get into the UC system, including schools like UCLA. So if you are bright but are just now applying yourself, I’d go to a JC, kick butt academically, and then transfer to the UC system.

^ yes, that’s a great strategy for a late bloomer. UCLA takes hundreds of Junior transfers from Santa Monica College each year.

The CS campuses take your GPA and your SAT/ACT scores and creates an index. Then depending on which school you are applying there is a cutoff. If you are above the cutoff, you are in. OK, not quite right - depending on where you live - you probably have a ‘home’ campus. You can have a lower index for your home campus. If you want a popular major, you might need a higher index.

Before the budget cuts, if you had a 3.0 GPA, then you generally had a high enough index to get into almost anywhere. I think it might be a bit higher now, but still - yours should be good for any of them. read more here [CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Grades and Test Scores](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Freshman: Testing Requirements | CSU)

For the 740, it was Math 2.
and I would love the idea of transferring, but with the budget cuts, it doesn’t seem to happen in less than 3 years. Many people that I know are attending Elcamino and are struggling to get their units finished. They told me it may even take an additional year. I would might as well go to a CSU then go to a JC for 3 years. :(

hey, anywhere that’ll accept me…?

2290 single sat 2310 combined 33 ACT but 2.5 gpa … :(

i was hoping BU, NYU, and binghamton especially if i don’t apply for financial aid but do you guys think i have a chance? i’m trying to major in business…

For those who are wondering who will accept them with either an ACT issue or a GPA issue…

How much will your parents pay? If money isn’t a concern, you do have other choices.

Easysats…you say that you’re not going to apply for FA…does that mean that your parents will “full pay” for your private schools?
