Sorry to bother you guys but I plan to apply to a bunch of med programs. Can you give me as much advice as possible? I'm a junior and plan on getting a 2200 on my SAT and a 33-35 on my ACT. I haven't taken any sat 2 exams yet. I might take the biology one. I also volunteer at the children hospital and plan to shadow a neurosurgeon in the summer. My weighted average is a 3.8 and I'm in the medical research club. I also took a year of biology research at my school in which we worked with C Ferns and Aribidopsis Thaliana. I really am looking at getting into Upenn/Jeff, Brown PLME, Sophie Davis, the program at USF and university of Miami, and many other programs. Can you give me advice and tell me what to do the next couple of months to maximize my chances? Thank you guys so much.

@stanford97 I’m a junior but I think he has a good chance of getting into a low to mid end Ba md program like me.

Do you have any list of Low to mid end programs

Hello! As a student who just went through this process, I’ve learned that you need to be MORE than exceptional to compete for the top tier programs. Since you guys are juniors, you need to make your last year/s STRONG. Any of these programs look for ~2250 SATs, and above 4.0 weighted GPAs. So that is what you need to aim for. Do not think that the grades themselves are going to get you in. Many programs are trying to pick up on a special connection and dedication you have for medicine, and this comes with experience. On one of my interviews for a program, I was asking my fellow interviewees if they had medical experience. Apparently it was a dumb question. I got the answer “I wouldn’t be here without medical experience.” Soon, I learned that my ~800 hours of hospital interning wasn’t actually out of the norm at all. But, what matters is what story you make out of your experience. If you know you want to be a doctor, you need to convey that passion. Looking at your prospective scores right now, I don’t know how good of a chance you would have at Brown, Northwestern, Miami, Case Western, Rochester, BU or UPenn, as those are considered to be some of the absolute strongest programs, and you need to be the absolute strongest applicant. But consider looking into VCU, UMKC, UAB, Drexel, Villanova. Message me if you need ANY help at all, because I just went through this chaos, and I would love to give any advice I can :)
