Just wondering what you’d estimate my chances of getting into Barrett might be.

SAT: Haven’t taken it yet (signed up for June), but my PSAT was 69 on CR and 62 in Math

If you have good recommendations and a good essay, you should be fine. Your gpa is on par with the average gpa of incoming freshman, and PSAT score is at the average as well. Also you will undoubtedly get a better score on your actual sat as well. Finally your extracurriculars seem great. I’d say your chances are very high.

Yeah, I’d agree, pretty likely. Not a complete shoo in, people with your stats have been rejected. Make sure to not wait until the last minute to apply, as Barrett fills up.

I got in with a ~3.5 weighted GPA, 1330 SAT (M+CR only), a really really really good essay, and I’m pretty sure my recommendations were good, too. I was in a couple more clubs & leadership positions than you, but you took more APs & Honors than me. As long as you do well on your SATs you should have a pretty good chance of getting in. Your essay and recommendations are really important though, so make sure you put some time into them.

WW, did you apply early to Barrett? I am helping a friend of my daughter try to get in, and her stats are pretty close to yours. I graduated from Barrett 20 years ago so I don’t know much about the current admissions process. ;)

I know she will have incredible recommendations because I’m writing one of them myself lol.

When you apply to ASU, the university does rolling admissions and gives you an admissions decision within 4-6 weeks. Does Barrett give applicants an answer 4-6 weeks after they complete their applications, or do they send out all decisions at once?

Barrett is moving away from the rolling admissions model, there are priority dates and deadlines now which may change the way they report their decisions. The priority deadline is Nov. 15th. Applying early still seems to be the best option though.

^ i applied to barretts jan. 3, so theres no reason to lose hope if you don’t make a priority deadline, but of course its always best to apply early but national scholars have a much later deadline than other applicants, at least last year they did…

I’m sure you’ll get a response soon. From the website, it appears that there is merit scholarship for transfers, but it is based on an evaluation of transfer applicants - not based on stats as are the freshman scholarships.

Well, in other words, they get their transfer apps in and then decide to which ones they want to give merit aid. Prospective freshmen can go to an online scholarship estimator, plug in their SATs and GPAs, and see in advance what kind of merit aid they’ll receive.
