Chances of getting into Boston University 2018

I wanted to know if I even have a chance of getting into Boston university. My gpa and SAT are not so high.

-I am applying early decision to help my chances

-gpa: 3.39
I know, it looks bad. But it is the few Cs I got in 9th grade that really brings it down. My report card does show progress. Every year my gpa gets higher. In 11th grade first semester I ended with a 3.6 and then a 3.8 second semester.

-SAT: Haven’t taken them but will probably get in the 1600s. I know, its bad. But I suck at the sat. I dont even understand why colleges care so much about them anymore. It is proven that the SAT is not valid in predicting how well students will do in college.

APs- Two in 11th grade. Got A- in both. I am now taking AP stat and AP art.

classes- 4 yrs of math, 4 yrs of history, 3 of language. So I went above the minimum.

Essay- I have been working on it for months. My councilor read it and said it was great. Now i am working to make it even more amazing.

Extra curricular- captain of football, agenda rep for 4yrs, internship at a law firm, VP of another committee, worked in summer camps and other jobs, 100 hours of community service.

PS. I also go to a private Jewish school where I have to take three extra Judaic classes, and their not easy. Because of that, school ends at 5, which means I also have less time to do hw and cannot take so many APs. I am also required to take 5 different history classes, 2 extra than most high schools. I don’t know if this will help my chance or not.

Any information or critique would be much appreciated. I really want to go to Boston and want to know my chances of getting in.

Your academic stats arent great. Try taking the ACT. Applying ED shows interest which BU likes.
Essay is super important for BU, because they want to know why you want to go to their school, not just because of the city of Boston. Try to get in touch via email with an admissions rep from BU to further express your interest, and what you can offer to the BU community.

1600 on the SATs won’t cut it. You need at least an 1800+, more like even 2000+ to be competitive. You can also try taking the ACT like someone else suggested.
