BU is the number one school I want to go to right now. I've asked around and researched and every different source tells me something different about BU. Some people and websites say I will get in no problem, but others say I will have a tough time.

SAT- 1820 total
570 CR
620 Math
630 Writing

As you can see, Critical Reading is my weakness. But I am retaking the SAT in October and my main focus is to bring my reading score up.

GPA- 3.78 (weighted) and 3.22 (unweighted)

Class Rank- Top 15%

Volunteering- 50+ hours at Rhode Island Hospital
Other activities are Math Team, Outdoor track, Indoor track, and Peer Tutoring

I am currently in my senior year and I am taking AP Calculus, Honors Chemistry II, Honors Physics II, Honors Anatomy, and Honors Spanish IV

I plan to double major in Computer Science and Business.

I think it would have really helped if I had taken an AP Computer Science class, but my school stinks and doesn't have ANY good computer classes.

Only thing that stops you is your testing. Hope ACTs or SAT retake goes better (if you plan on it)…rank and GPA aren’t too shabby for BU stats, and decent courseload. I wouldn’t say “reach” just yet (from a local’s perspective, ie, 5 miles away down the road), I’m thinking low reach for you. Can get into high match/match territory with better testing. Hows them recs, essays, and SATII coming?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will look into Umass Amherst.

I got a 610 on my Math II SATII, I know its not the best, but its decent.

I finished my supplement essay for BU and I think it came out great. I gave it to my Guidance Counselor for her opinion, but unfortunately I haven’t heard back yet. I also have finished my first draft of my main essay and I think it’ll come out amazing with some minor improvements. I am trying to make myself unique in the essay so I wrote about how my religion and culture has influenced my decision on my career path.

And I am getting a recommendation from my English teacher from 11th grade and my Physics teacher that I had last year in 11th grade and this year again for Physics II in 12th.

I always knew BU would be a bit of a reach, but hopefully if I work my butt off to get at least a 1900 on my next SAT retake, I’ll have a nice chance.
