Hello everyone,
I’m new to this site so I’m not sure if I’m doing this correctly. But here goes nothing!
Getting into BU would be super cool, but I know it’s definitely a stretch for me and maybe, senior year, I won’t even apply. I just want to gauge where I would stand among the thousands of other applicants… so don’t be too harsh, haha. I’m planning on majoring in Vocal Performance.
I’m a sophomore and my grades dipped a little bit this year, my total high school GPA so far is about an 85 but here are my grades from this year and last year:
Freshman
English CP: 87
Physics CP: 75
French III: 88
Alg 1: 81
Concert Choir: 97
World Studies CP: 90
Sophomore

French IV: 87
Geometry CP: 80
Chamber Choir: 95
CPUSH 1: 85

I haven’t taken the SAT yet. On my PSAT I got a 167, which isn’t that great but I just wanted to get a feel for the test.
I’ve also been selected for a program (in place of physical education) for my junior year called Peer Leaders. It’s basically a peer mentorship program to help freshmen transition into the high school, run by upperclassmen.
Extracurriculars (estimated)
Fall Drama (4 years)
Spring Musical (4 years)
Men’s Ensemble (3 or 3.5 years)
Vocal Jazz (4 years)
UNICEF (3 years) (Grade representative)
A Cappella (3 years) (Director 2 years)
NJ All State Choir (3 years, ranked #2 on my voice part, contender for Governor’s Award this year and keeping my fingers crossed!)
NAfME All National Honor Ensemble (1 or 2 years)
Vocal training (4 years)
12 non school-organized productions, including 9 shows, 3 cabarets (Assistant Director 1 year)
All in all, I know that my grades are nothing spectacular, and most of my “rigorous” classes will be coming from my schedule senior year. I do regret not strengthening my course load these past two years and I wish I had waivered into English 11 H at least for next year. My SAT score should be alright; I’m taking a class and my friend gave me a bunch of review guides that she used. And my essay should be good. Even though I probably won’t get into BU, does anybody know of any similar schools that are looking for people like me?
Thank you!
PS please be nice, I know it’s a longshot
