chances of getting into business schools

I'm from NY, and i go to a public school that usually sends 1 or 2 people to ivy leagues. I am Indian (from the country) and I am a guy.

I have a 95 average(unweighted) so far and am in the top 10% of my grade (200 kids) (my school doesnt rank).

So far I have taken 3 AP's and I am in 4 APs this year(Gov, Lit, Calc, Bio).

US History 4
Chemistry 5
Macroeconomics 4

I am also taking regular physics and college accounting (this will be weighted as an ap class cause i will be getting college credit for this from Long Island University/ CW Post) this year.

Schools:
University of Michigan
Lehigh University
Boston College
Carnegie Mellon
Notre Dame
Emory
Cornell
UPenn
Washington University in St. Louis
Harvard

I am doing ED for UPenn.

Go all out, I want to know my chances. Thanks in advance =P

Your stats are similar to mine haha, i'm also top 10% and 31 ACT ;)

U of M - Match / Slight Reach (OOS)
Lehigh - Match
Boston College - Match
Carnegie Mellon - Slight Reach
Notre Damn - Slight Reach / Reach
Emory - Slight Reach / Reach
Cornell/Washu - Reach
Havard/UPenn - ...close to none :(

lol I have been looking at other peoples stats, they are insane... I wish I had done more ECs. I really want to go to UPenn but i very much doubt that i will get in. :(

any other people wanna comment? its a little too late to do anything else but suggestions would be helpful :)

Yeah, my EC's are better then yours by a little. When I look at other ppl on this board I see 4.0 34's :(. Wah. I swear like at least 50% of the top 99% of this nation must post on this site haha

Oh btw I hope you have a safety...

none of those are safeties? what would be a good safety school for business?

does it help me that my school offers very few EC's and during my junior year there werent any cause the budget didnt pass...

Safe Matches would be Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, Washington, or Minnesota. (Illinois is highest ranked of these --about 12-14th in the business ratings). Different schools have different specialties--Illinois (accounting), Wisconsin (computers), Minnesota (quality and business processes), etc.

Good safeties for you would be Indiana, Pittsburgh, Bentley, or Oregon. (Indiana is ranked top 10/11 in business by both USNW and Business Week, but not as highly ranked in the overall school rankings--for example not as high as a school like Illinois overall--since Indiana has no engineering school)

U of Michigan - Match (OOS)
Lehigh/Boston College - Match
Carnegie Mellon/Notre Dame - Slight Reach
Cornell/WUSL/Emory - Reach
Harvard/UPenn -Giant Reach (P.S. Harvard has no undergraduate business school)

thanks Calcruzer, but what are you refering to when you say the state? there is more than one school in those states lol.... (i understand bentley but i mean the others)

Sorry, I guess I should be more clear. When I say Colorado, I mean University of Colorado (main campus), which in this case is the University of Colorado at Boulder. Same for the others: Indiana--Indiana University at Bloomington; Illinois--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Wisconsin--University of Wisconsin at Madison; Pittsburg--University of Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh; Oregon--University of Oregon at Eugene; Minnesota--University of Minnesota at Twin Cities; and Washington--University of Washington at Seattle.

Oh, and Michigan is University of Michigan at Ann-Arbor and UPenn is University of Pennsylvania (it only has one campus--in Philadelphia)--but I think you know those two.

Lastly, I should have mentioned Purdue as a safety also. It has a very good business school.

No, it doesn't matter that your school offers few ECs. Nost great ECs are outside of school.

If your school send only a couple to ivies, and you're only top 10%, why would you be one of them?

Agree Harvard and Wharton are not worth the application fee.

bump, i remembered a couple things that i could add

i have been in science research since 9th grade
i got honorable mention in 9th and 10th and outstanding achievement in 12th grade at the Long Island Science Congress (science competition)
i spent a 3 weeks at Stony Brook University learning research techniques with a researcher there

does it help that my cousin is in WUSL right now?
and that i have a twin who will also be going to college at the same time as me?
and that i am Indian?

please let me know if any of this even makes a difference... thanks in advance

also i participated in Suffolk County Math Teachers Association Math Tournament and in a NY State poster contest about wastewater treatment but i didnt get any awards in either

Let me brutally honest with you:

University of Michigan - match / reach
Lehigh University - match
Boston College - match / reach
Carnegie Mellon - reach
Notre Dame - match / reach
Emory - reach
Cornell - rejected
UPenn - rejected
Washington University in St. Louis - rejected
Harvard - rejected

thanks datadriven, i was expecting something like that but my parents are pushing me to apply to all those schools because of the "slim" chance i have of getting in lol. Since my cousin is going to WUST right now does that improve my chances there?

flootloop, i want to stay in the general northeast so if you have any suggestions in this region feel free =P
calcruzer mentioned pittsburg and indiana before, those are kinda close

bump, anyone wanna answer my other questions lol

i just remembered i have done like 40 hours of community service at a local Head Start program (helping with underprivilaged kids)
does that help me =P

I guess i can write out my grades...
