I go to Interlake High School, have a 3.3 GPA UW, Full International Baccalaureate, over 200 hours of community service, 4 years of baseball, and 2 years of swim team, 2 years of key club, 1680 SAT score... I'm just worried that I will waste an early decision on a school i cant get into.

Intended major? CSU GPA? see link to calculate and SLO uses Freshman grades. <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

if ur applying to engineering, then i would say no way. im applying to cal poly slo as an engineering major, and its a reach for me. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1676772-chance-me-cal-poly-slo-engineering.html#latest (there are my stats). i think if you are applying to liberal arts then u might get into. but for engineering and architecture, it would be a pretty big no, and for business i would say its a low reach. please list your major.

also, if youre out of state, u need to have even better stats than the average, so take that into consideration. u should apply to cal poly pomona, or maybe the lower uc’s (santa cruz/riverside)

Take a look at the 2014 Freshman profile for SLO, your STATS way below average.

Regardless if your in-state or OOS, it would be a reach.

I was looking to major in computer science

my csu gpa is 3.63

@adityamehta: My youngest son applied for CS at SLO this past Fall for ED admission (in-state). His UC GPA was 3.73 ACT 31 with 10 AP classes and 2 Honors. He was rejected from ED and RD. SLO is super competitive, so unless you can raise that GPA and get an SAT of 2100+, it will be a reach. I would suggest you look at some other state schools such as SDSU (where he is going this Fall), CSULB, SJSU and Cal Poly Pomona. You will have a better chance at these schools. I would still apply to SLO but don’t get your hopes up. Good Luck to you.

Thanks! to all replies

SJSU is also very competitive for CS, though less so for the similar software engineering major.
