Chances of getting into Clemson

Hello all,
I recently applied to Clemson for the fall of 2016 and I’m wondering what my chances of admission are. I go to one of the best schools in upstate NY and it is very competitive. I have taken a few honors and college level courses however I have never taken any ap classes which I know is something Clemson likes to see. However like I said before my high school is very competitive so its not like its been a cake walk for me. My GPA is right around a 3.3-3.4 and I scored an overall 1650 on the SAT, 520 math, 530 critical reading. I’m not the best test taker and I struggled a little bit the end of my junior year which is why my GPA isn’t as high as I’d like it to be. I have heard that admission to Clemson somewhat depends on what you plan to major in. I applied and put down Construction Management as my first choice of major. I explained my passion for construction and the reason why my grades weren’t as good as they could have been in the optional personal essay that Clemson gives you the chance to fill out in their app. I believe this might boast my chances and I’m thinking that Construction Management may be one of the less popular majors which may also boast my chances. I am aware that I could possibly be recommended to the bridge program which I would most definitely accept if offered. I would love to know what everyone thinks about what my chances of getting into Clemson are. Thanks a lot!

I would really investigate the Bridge program before I committed to it. You may be better served financially and academically to attend an instate school and then transfer to Clemson later if you are not directly admitted. The Bridge program is costly. Clemson admissions weighs GPA, test scores, class rank and rigor the most when determining admission . Currently, your stats seem a little low to be competitive for admission. Google Clemson’s Common Data Set to see where your stats fall in comparison to recently admitted students to get a better idea of your chances for admission. Another thing to consider is cost. OOS cost of attendance is approx 43,000 a year and with your current stats ,opportunities for merit are probably not available . Good luck to you.
