Chances of getting into Colgate?

Hello.

I am currently beginning my senior year of high school. Out of the colleges I have toured up to this point, I am leaning towards Colgate University; however, I understand that the acceptance rate is on the low end of the spectrum and that is what worries me.

At our school, we do not use a system of GPA, but instead, NGA, which is an average of all grades. My NGA currently sits at a 95. I am within the top 10% of my graduating class, with a rank of 30 or 31 out of roughly 380. I took two AP classes as a junior: AP US History and AP Economics, and received A's in both. This year I am taking AP Psychology, AP Literature, and AP Statistics.

I have played basketball for my entirety at my school, making varsity last year as a junior.

I am a member of National Honor Society.

I am also an executive member of a club started in 2011 by a close friend of mine, for which I have volunteered and fundraised over the past two years.

I am also currently working at a local pharmacy as a sales associate and plan to stay there throughout the end of senior year.

My SAT scores are currently not very strong. I scored an 1820, with a 550 in reading (580 first time around), 610 in math and 660 in writing with a 10 on the essay. I plan on retaking them one last time before I submit any applications.

I am also hoping to become a member of Student Government and German club (have taken German from eighth grade onward).

If I apply to Colgate, should I apply ED? I know as of now my SAT scores and EC's are the two things really holding me back. If Colagte is more of a reach than anything, what other schools should I consider as far as my resume goes?

My intended major (although not yet certain) is most likely going to be Political Science, with a minor in either Psychology or Economics.

Thanks for any and all help and recommendation in advance!

I’d say its a match and only apply ED if you know that you want to go there! Chance me back plz!

I’d advise you to retake your SAT this fall, and if you do well, apply ED. Your score is a little low for ED right now.
