I'm currently a junior in high school and I'm hoping to get into UW Madison. Northwestern University is another college I've been considering, but it may just not be possible. I would like to get into the medical field and pursue a career in either surgery or oncology.

I currently have a 3.9 unweighted GPA and am taking many honors and college level classes (College level chemistry and English, honors math classes). I have not taken the ACT yet, but I am preparing to take it in April. I may also take the SAT. I recently started volunteering at the local animal shelter and I'm waiting to hear back from a local hospital about volunteering there. I have had a part time job since the beginning of my junior year. But, I'm a little worried about my extracurriculars. Technically, I only have one extracurricular that I take through my school, which is the Healthy Youth Coalition (it's an alcohol and drug abuse prevention group). My school really doesn't offer that much of a selection of other clubs (nothing else they do offer interests me), and sports are not at all my thing.

So, I'm just wondering what my chances are of getting into either of the schools I mentioned. I've been worrying about it quite a bit lately. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks.
