I'm a junior in high school trying to get into Cornell and I would just like to know your opinion of my chances. I am thinking of applying EARLY DECISION.

Academics:
A's range all the time. Nothing Below a 95. During my Junior Year I am enrolled in 4 AP classes:
Calculus BC
US History
English
Chemistry

I am easily in the top 10 of my grade. Next Year I will be taking 6 more AP classes.

I also have over 250 hours of community service, most from mentoring little children and dong stuff around my school.

I also did some international stuff like raise money for this mosque back in my home country and I also started an organization there to keep up my project in my abscence (this was done over a summer). I also helped a hospital in this country and started a fundraiser program for that too.

Also I am from Sri Lanka so I think the minority thing will help.

I don't know if it helps but I also am multilingual and play guitar.

I also did a few clubs throughout the years but the ones above are my main ones that I stuck with all four years.

Let me know my chances of getting in. Thanks.

what do you mean by saying that you’re re-taking the SAT subject tests? are you actually going to sit for Math II and Chemistry again, or are you just going to take other ones?

Hey, i’m going to Cornell Engineering next year. I think you have a pretty great shot. Your SAT scores and transcript sound pretty solid. As for your SAT IIs, your chemistry is good but your math is a bit on the low side. Most people that I know who got into engineering have a 780 or above. Obviously, your math SAT II score isn’t going to make or break your application but it might be something to consider. I would also think about taking another SAT II. Physics sounds good but maybe think about a language, a social science, or history. Its good to show that you are well-rounded and that you don’t just excel at Math and Science. Over all I think you have a great shot. Good luck!!

no I am not an international student I live in the US… but I have a question… for those of you involved… is cornell a good school for engineering?.. i looked it up and am getting very different results… some say that it is ranked 6th while others say it is ranked 15th… I really only want to go to a school with the highest engineer rep but isn’t for complete nerds and kids with no social life (cough… MIT… cough)
