Chances of getting into CSUF

I’m a transfer student w/ close to 90 units of undergrad. I jumped around from CSU San Marcos to a JC in San Diego and now I’m here in Fullerton going to FJC and taking one class through open-university at CSUF. I planned on going to CSUF for the Spring 10 semester but all CSU’s aren’t accepting spring transfers. I listed my GPA as a 3.2 on my application with the hopes I’ll be able to raise my 3.12 to a 3.2 after the Spring semester. I only want to go to CSUF and I’ll be doomed if I don’t get in

Shoot, sorry I posted in the wrong forum. I’m still figuring out my way around the forum.

I don’t think lying about your GPA is a good start.

Our school had to cut enrollment numbers AND limit total class enrollment (aka “FTEs”) this year due to the drastic budget cuts imposed upon us. One of the measures taken was to limit freshman enrollment (prioritizing those students in our “service area” first, and cutting off admissions when a cap was reached). The other major measure was to deny transfer admissions until the fall semester…so you may have hopes yet of making it in.

Are you interested in one of our BFA programs (Acting or Musical Theatre)? If so, you should know that once accepted to the university, it will likely take you THREE YEARS to graduate (a lot, on top of the units you are entering with) due to the nature of our “jury system” and the required prerequisites to jury.

If you haven’t yet read through the transfer section for CSUF, you should. Or write me: ehimmelheber@fullerton.edu, and I’ll send you the letter explaining the process.

Upping an old thread but I’d like to ask you this question since you are the only official of CSUF on these boards:

I have sent in my Golden 4 transcripts and they were processed last week. There is only one transcript I haven’t sent which have 2 classes. I have not been accepted nor denied.

How long should it take for them to make a decision? I applied the midnight it opened, but sent my Golden 4 transcripts late cause I didn’t realize they needed those to make a decision. Oh, and my gpa is 3.65. Surely they will accept out-of-district GPAs that high! :,(

I believe that your application file date means that you are still in consideration, but you do need to complete the application process by forwarding all transcripts.

You should call A&R and find out the status (if it is not listed on your Titan Online link - info that they send when the application is being processed/considered).

Sorry I can’t offer more assistance…these budget cuts have really affected the application process a great deal.

OH, and there is another new piece of info for transfers (I’ll send in another reply as soon as I post this reply).

Admissions & Records

Subject: Highlights of Changes in the Admission Process

In an effort to keep you informed in this very different application processing year, I am writing to highlight a few major changes to procedures in Admissions & Records of which you should be aware, as you meet or consider contacting prospective transfer students via e-mail or data sets:

Accept/Decline: Intent to Enroll Status: The Accept/Decline status is new this year. All transfer students, who are offered admission for the fall 2010 term, must accept or decline their offer of admission. Students must go on line through their portal to press the accept button to be counted in the entering transfer class. We have forwarded the e-mail text below to the transfer students who are admitted to the university.

E-mail to admitted transfers
Subject: Intent to Enroll

Dear STUDENT:

All newly admitted transfer students that intend to enroll at Cal State Fullerton must accept their offer of admission. You can accept admission through your student portal within the Student Center beginning today through June 1, 2010. Under the Admissions area of the Student Center, click on the Application Status link. The Accept/Decline button will be displayed. Click on the Accept/Decline button to accept your admission to CSU Fullerton.

It is important to note that accepting admission is required to confirm your intent to enroll at Cal State Fullerton and reserve a space in our transfer class for the Fall 2010 term for more information about accepting admission, please visit
[CSUF Admissions and Records - Accepting Admission](Redirect)

Information about accepting an offer of admission appears in the student’s admission notification.

Please note that admitted transfers interested in enrolling here in the fall must accept their offer of admission by June 1st or risk losing their place in the class.

Please note that any data set/labels that you request from A&R for admitted transfers must take this status into consideration. Only admitted transfers who accept their offers of admission will be allowed to register for classes for the fall term. Initially, with this new status, your data sets may be smaller than in previous years.

2) Transfer Waiting List: We are in the process of creating a waiting list for out of local transfer students (those who have not taken a majority of their transfer courses at an Orange County Community College) who are otherwise admissible but for whom we have no space give the California budget situation. We estimate that approximately 2,000 students will be on the waiting list. These out-of-local students will probably have a grade point average between a 3.00 and a 3.4 or a 3.5. (The actual GPA will be known after we work through the out-of-local transfers.) If a student wishes to remain on the waiting list, they will reply to an e-mail and we will update their Waitlist Offer coding to a Wait list. Should we go to the transfer waiting list, only those students who accepted the wait list offer will be considered. We anticipate going to the wait list of our yields dramatically change from previous years or if the budget improves.

I hope that this information is helpful to you as you begin to think about contacting students for the fall term.

Fullerton has put me in a situation that I don’t like being in. For two years now I’ve dreamed about coming here, and now I may not because of the transcript process.

I called them several times, and on Titan Online it said the transcripts were due July 18th. I got no mail or no indication that said otherwise. But that’s fine, because I have most of my transcripts already processed (including the Golden 4 classes).

But, I checked yesterday, and it said they were due March 10th. ONE WEEK NOTICE. I have a transcript with TWO classes from a Texas college I went to, and I need to get that to CSU Fullerton. So I call them, and apparently there is a hold on my account there before I can get a transcript (apparently they needed my HS transcript, which is odd cause I already received a transcript from this college).

So I have to send my HS transcript from TX to my college I took in TX so I can get my college to send my transcripts to Fullerton. And that college in Texas isn’t the best when it comes to this stuff. My future can be totally altered because of this ONE transcript. And they don’t accept electronic transcripts from any other school except Fullerton College! (surprise)

I am so stressed now. I have a 3.6GPA and I haven’t heard anything. I heard from Cal Poly (waitlist). And for some reason, a coworker applied to Fullerton and was accepted in the winter! And she didn’t send anything! WHAT?

sigh
Sorry for the rant. Just very frustrated with everything right now. I can’t wait another year to go to University.

Try asking whoever is responsible at each school to fax them where they need to be— a lifesaver for tight deadlines!

I asked the HS. They say they can’t do it. They sent it in the mail yesterday, but the college is known for being very inept about getting this stuff processed properly. I looked today and I still have the hold (how long does it take to get mail from one place to another which is only a 15minute drive?)

I need to call them tomorrow, I think they are open Saturdays, and get myself and inside person to personally help me out, cause I always have a hard time getting in contact with them. :[

I feel so bad though, my whole life changed for one transcript with 2 classes. One year lost. I don’t like it.

I’m not sure why the deadline changed, or why they gave no notice. I would mention that when you talk to A&R. Also, if you go to the high school/college/district, they can copy the records there and give to you in a sealed “official” transcript (may charge you a nominal copying fee). You can bring that to A&R - and the best way to insure that you get someone to help you is to come in and talk to them in person. I know it’s a pain, but may be your best option at this point. I’m so sorry for all this hassle.

I applied for transfer on OCt 6, sent my transcript on Dec 20, my golden 4 Feb 22. My GPA 4.0 but my status still is “no decision has been made” How long do I have to wait? My friends with 2.8 got accepted? I am super nervous.
Any chance I dont get accepted?

Yes, there is still a chance. You should call the Admissions office to find out what the delay is.

CSUF is not the only school limiting transfers due to budget cuts. We are running into the same situation at other schools in California. Gook luck everyone!

csuf is askin for my final college transcipt. does that mean i am accepted?

I believe that means they are trying to verify your eligibility and standing if accepted - this is part of the admissions process. You aren’t accepted until your Titan Online account (online access to student records, etc.) reflects that. They should have sent you a user ID and password when they processed your application.

I got all my transcripts in and now I have to wait. It still says they have made no decisions as of yet.

Though there is a new option under my application status, and it’s the “waitlist option.” But I refuse to click that because with a 3.6GPA I demand to be accepted! Hah. I’m already on a waitlist with Cal Poly.

Plus, I need to be accepted by mid-April to get dorms on the college campus :[. Hopefully they make a decision soon!

You might call Residence Life and let them know that the transfers aren’t getting timely Admissions info, and see if there is an accommodation to cover this contingency.

Also, keep checking your Titan Online - you’ll see acceptance there (possibly WEEKS) before the letter arrives.

I check the site everyday, but I think I’ll call just to see what’s ETA for acceptance. I emailed the housing but I haven’t asked for any special accommodations, I think I shall email them after spring break if I have not yet been accepted.

Erm. I hope admissions isn’t closed on spring break!

It looks like they’ll be closed Wed. (Ceasar Chavez Day) and Friday (furlough closure).
