chances of getting into decent med school for non-traditional...

Hello,

I'm in my late 20s and have a job doing international development work, so I wanted to see what you guys thought my chances are of getting into a decent school with my numbers. I graduated from Case Western Reserve Univ. with a 3.56 (magna cum laude) with a degree in Chemistry; unfortunately, my science GPA is a little above a 3.3 (I receive 2 C's in physical chemistry...) I have a Masters in International Relations from an Ivy league school, speak Arabic, and have spent about a year and half doing reconstruction work in Iraq (including setting up medical treatment facilities there). I'd like to pursue a career in international medicine given my unique background and skill-set. I have no research experience and won't really be able to do any because of my job....I also haven't taken the MCAT yet, but from the practice tests, I'm assuing I'll get around a 30 or higher. I'll be doing a decent amound of shadowing in the future as well as volunteering and I plan to take the MCAT in April '10. Given the science GPA and no research, I was wondering what you guys tought my chances of getting into (any med school) as well as a (good med school were).

thanks!

At this point everything depends on the MCAT score. A real score will give you a good sense of where you’ll end up.

Nothing can be assumed or at least predicted without a lizzyM score- which is your gpa multiplied by 10 + your mcat score.
