Hello. I have just finished middle school and I am going to a public high school for 9th grade. However I am thinking about applying to Deerfield Academy for 10th grade. I am guessing it is impossible for me to be accepted there. I was home-schooled for 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. In 8th grade I didn’t do any extracurriculars and I got As, A-s, B+s, and Bs. In 9th grade I plan to do several extracurriculars for example debate. I also think I should be able to get all As. I doubt it is even worth applying because of my shaky history but I just want to make sure.
Hey there PotatoLord! … I can’t speak to your chances (and I don’t work in Admission at Deerfield) but I can say confidently that there are a lot of factors that impact whether you are accepted at a school like Deerfield. I certainly don’t see anything that you’ve written that would cause me to tell you not to apply. Have you considered coming to campus for a visit and a tour? That will tell you a lot about Deerfield, and it will tell us a lot about you! --David
