So I applied to DePaul University Early Action for the fall of 2012.

I'm a seventeen year old guy.

I go to one of the best public schools in the country (the top five) and I have around an 85 average. I'm an Eagle Scout Candidate and I am involved in many other activities like the gallery club, the GSA, the art club, I've done theatre in the past and I have a steady babysitting job.
I've also done a lot of volunteering as well.

I've taken honors Latin (2-4) from Freshmen to Junior year but they didn't offer honors Latin 5

Junior year I also took Honors English and Honors History.

This year I'm in AP English, AP Government and AP Studio Art and I doubled up in English and I'm also in Pre-Calc.

I also have two extra recommendations from a dean of one of the schools departments and another personal recommendation as well.

My grades have also been on an upwards trend since Freshmen year and each year I've taken harder classes.

I'm also hearing impaired and from the Northeast. I also visited the campus.

I applied test optional as well.

Do I have any chance of getting into DePaul University?

Also I forgot to mention I’ve been on honor role for the past three years, and my Quarter one gpa unweighted was an 88 and weighted for the quarter was a 92

Hi Dermud, your stats are stronger than mines. You have a very good chance of getting into De Paul. The school is strong on community service, make sure you have a good essay.
Best of luck to you!

Thanks, the best to you too! My essay was about being born hearing impaired and how it didn’t make me hear less it made me hear more etc etc. Hopefully DePaul sees my community service as what pushes them to accept me. Hope you get in! DePaul is my number one!

The school is a joke! The administration acts like 5 year olds and the education is slightly above GED. Please go to Yelp.com and read the reviews on DePaul University. It will shock you. They will accept anyone that applies, which is why they stop requiring ACT and SAT scores. I am saying this as a former student.

Okay so I checked my campus connect and there’s not an accepted students tab and a notification about me sending in my medical records about vaccines Illinois law requires for college students. I haven’t received my letter though so thoughts? I’m freaking out

I had good essays and letters of rec.
300+ service hours
Work 25+ hours a week (3 jobs)
10th in my class out of 110 (Small competitive private school)
I’m Catholic

I also got nearly half tuition paid for

This is one of my backup schools. I’m waiting on acceptances from UT (which i’m worried I won’t get into), Chapman (probably my first choice), Boston U, and LMU.

I work in admission. We have no set minimums for the admission process. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Admission at admission@depaul.edu or 312-362-8300.

^ happyman (?), I took a quick look at your thread history. You spent half your time on cc praising DePaul and the other half saying it is a terrible school.
What exactly happened to you there?

I just opened my eyes and saw what was really going on at DePaul. You should go to Yelp.com and read the MANY negative reviews about DePaul. They have no standards and will accept anyone regardless of their intelligence. Plus the education you will receive there is a joke! Please, please read the Yelp.com reviews on DePaul and tell me what you think?

bro its yelp…really? youre gonna base the foundation of your arguments on yelp? thats maybe 50 people out of a 16,000 undergraduate student body. plus their business program is growing at a rate that random yelp reviews arent capable of quantifying. maybe instead of pointlessly insulting a school and its administration you should get a job and be productive or something…

happyman, I am really confused now. Do you, or did you, attend DePaul?

I can read Yelp as well as anyone but it does not make me qualified to advise other people. I don’t read Trip Advisor reviews of hotels I’ve never seen and tell strangers whether or not to stay there. Seriously, I want to know what YOUR experience is with DePaul?

If you would like to know what real current students think about DePaul, I encourage you all to check out our student blogs: [DeBlogs: Welcome](<a href=“DeBlogs | Home”>DeBlogs | Home)

By the way, our average admitted student from last year had a 3.5/4.0 GPA and 22-27 ACT. Our admittance rate was 64 percent.

If you look at DePaul’s Micro-scholarships program, they award a lot of money to students while they’re still in high school if they take Honors classes and get good ACT scores. So the profile of students is generally pretty good.
