Chances of getting into dream college

Hi all, my dream has always been to attend NC State University and i am just not sure of my chances. I was hoping to get others opinions of my chances of getting accepted. I have a 3.5 weighted GPA and i got a total of 1550 on my s.a.t and a 1080 on my reading and math. I also put my major as forestry hoping it would give me a little bit of an edge due to that being an unpopular major. Please any feedback would be great! Thanks.

Try to bring your SAT score up a little bit more for reassurance. Also, I hope you listed your that as your major because you’re interested and not because you hope to get an edge on your application. Try taking the ACT, too. I found the ACT to be easier than the SAT.

Yes i do have a genuine interest in forestry, i took the ACT and scored a 20.Do you think I have any shot at being accepted?

I think it will be a slight reach for you. Are you currently a senior/ junior?

A Senior, i have already been accepted into ECU and UNC charlotte but those both back ups. If necessary i will go to either of those for a year and then try to transfer into NC State.

NCSU: High match

Glad you’re already in somewhere…

Thanks! I just feel like my gpa might be to low

I know there are tons of these posts but could you guys please take 30 seconds to reply…it would mean a lot.

Anyone have a answer

Your ACT score is lower than the 25% and your SAT is at the 25%. Your GPA is also at the lower end. This does not mean it is impossible, but your chances are lower than average just looking at these factors. Perhaps the forestry major will help, but you will be comitted to it. Don’t lose hope entirely, but it is good you are accepted into other schools, and who knows, you may end up liking them.
It’s always hard when a student is focused on one school. It’s a good idea to get more information about the schools you are accepted to. Charlotte is a major city, as is Raleigh, so check it out. Visit both schools and see what about them you like. Hopefully you will hear good news. Best wishes.

Thanks for the insight!

Anyone else?
