I'm out of state
Weighted GPA: 3.86
Unweighted: 3.85
ACT:25
Class Rank: 103 (top 17%)

MARYLAND DOES NOT LOOK AT SUBJECT TESTS! I would only advocate taking the Math SAT II if you wanted to send them to another college. But Maryland doesn’t look at them AT ALL, even if they would help you.

Also, what are your regular SAT Scores? Supposedly UMCP doesn’t look at the writing, so your 1600 score would be more important.

I was told that the Writing test is not taken into consideration (I was told this by every college I spoke to except Baylor and they said it could tip you one way or the other). I did not hear the same about Subject tests. You may be right, but if a student wants in to the UMD Engineering School, they better be strong in Math. And if you’re strong in
Math, I would go ahead and take the Subject test. If UMD doesn’t use it, other schools you’re applying to might.

Your UW GPA is fine, but why is your W GPA only a little higher? If it’s because you took nearly all regular classes, then that’s really going to hurt you. With your current ACT score, it’ll be near impossible to get in. If you could get either 29+ on ACT or 1350+/1600 on the SAT, then your chances would be better. Your EC’s are lacking. You have a lot of volunteering hours, but you only did each of your EC’s for a year, which shows a lack of dedication to any particular club.
You do not need to take any subject tests for UMD.
