I am in 8th grade applying to Exeter. I live in Pennsylvania (go to school in Delaware) and money is not an issue so I won't need any type of financial aid. I got one B+ (History, ugh) and all A's in 7th grade and since then I have strait A's on my report cards. I suck at vocab. My SSAT scores were Math: 95 , Reading:80, Vocab:60 (I know it sucks). I think my interview went very well and I know my recs were great, all my teachers love me. I have a long list of EC's which I hope will get me in.

-I've been taking spanish for 2 years and Chinese for 1
-I've been playing the piano for 6 years and won many awards
-I've played the trombone for 5 years, I'm in my school band, my school jazz band, and the Delaware All-State Jazz band.
-I've been playing the trumpet for 2 years but not in any ensembles.
-I have raised around $5000 in the past 3 years for the MS Society by myself
-I play football and basketball but I probably won't play either of them at Exeter
-I am a great lacrosse player. I play in and out of school. I can make varsity in 9th or 10th grade. I talked to the coach there and he seemed to like me.
-Algebra 1 is the highest math offered at my school but I take geometry out of school and taking Algebra 2 over the summer.
-I go a big camp every summer for 2 months. My interviewer seemed to think this was good because it shows I like being in a dense community away from my family.
-I also went to a state-wide science competition and got 1st in my event out of over 100 students

People are becoming mean on this forum. I know some of you hate the "chance me" threads, but this IS a forum just for that. If you are not into giving your opinions about others' chances, just stay away from it. No need to hurt others' feelings.

Sorry for being a little abrasive, but chances threads look so "plastic" on this forum. They are all the same... About 50/60 EC, 99 SSAT, amazing interviews etc.

...what the heck do you mean by "MS society"
my father has MS (and CP but thats beside the point)....there is no freaking "MS society" i was almost freaking offended by that. what the heck?

The only problem with your application is the SSAT. The scores on reading and Verbal may hurt you a lot. If your overall percentile was above 93 though, you'll be okay.

what was your overall ssat, may i ask? 85ish?

to me, you sound like a well rounded applicant. lots of sports, plays lots of instruments, etc. i don't think they'll reject you because of your ssat or b+. i can't chance you though, as i'm not an admissions officer. hopefully you'll have good news on m10th. good luck.

and don't worry, everyone's nervous. just keep your mind off the day. :)

im pretty sure my overall SSAT percentile was high 80's. During my interview I really got into lacrosse and my interviewer seemed into it and she was really getting deep into it. I wrote one of my essays about music. my All-State band experience, and my high honors in piano festivals so I hope that can get me in.

His reading score is fine, no one needs to score 90%+ on every section to be "safe".

I would be slightly worried about your verbal score, which is considerably low for Exeter. However your Math score should bring it up to...say a mid-high 80?

Ideal boarding school applicant, well-rounded, intelligent, and sociable. Wouldn't hurt to apply to some other schools as well though, Exeter isn't exactly the easiest school to get accepted into.

i know but as i said before, after I visited exeter my parents didn't want me applying anywhere else because they didn't want me to leave. I really wanted to apply to Andover and Groton but they wouldn't let me. If I don't get in i'll definitely apply to more schools next year. Thanks tho
