Chances of getting into Fordham with a high GPA, low SAT

I posted this question on the NYU forum as well, but as the time is getting closer I am of course nervous and anxious as can be. My situation is I have a weighted 4.0 GPA, 3.6667 unweighted, however the big drawback for me is my SAT score which is 1540. Another thing is that wasn't even my first time, the first time I scored a 1510 which greatly disappointed me.

So overall, do you think it is still possible to get in? I see on forums other than this one people making it seem like all hope is lost in that situation and when I go on "If you were accepted/rejected" threads those with an SAT score with like an 1800 say they have been denied. But when I go on collegeboard the stats show I seem like I have a chance.

Thanks for your answers in advance!

Hard to tell, but I wouldn’t say it is impossible
If you took many APs or honors classes you might have better shot…I guess?
Good luck anyway!

Sorry to tell you this but I think you have a slim to no (or is it “none” ?? hahaha) chance of getting in. Most people with scores in the 1700s with similar GPAs are almost always denied. I know this because 15 of my batch-mates applied to Fordham with scores in the 1600s and 1700s with impeccable GPAs (3.80 something UW, one meven with a 3.93 UW) and they were denied early action. I think It is best if you expect the worst, but as the previous post said, nothing can be impossible.

Thanks to both that answered :). Overall yes, I am expecting the worse, if I am denied I am going to Seton Hall so I have a backup. But fromcalwithlove, Isn’t it usually harder when you apply for Early Decision, so regular decision is slightly better? But I have heard that being a URM may help do you think so? (I am not getting my hopes up off that of course though)

from what i hear (and don’t quote me on this one), Fordham is generally much more interested in intelligent slackers (high SAT, low GPA) than students with high GPAs and low SATs. My councilor told me this, and I applied for that reason (I have a high SAT and low GPA)- and my love for the school of course! haha.

However, most of the schools I applied to aren’t like that, so I’m banking on Fordham. XD

My daughter has a 3.9 GPA (weighted) and an 1880 on her SAT’s. She got deferred from the EA pool. Will let you know what happens when RD come in.

:/ I’m so nervous. I feel so annoyed because I worked hard all through high school in my classes and for one 4 hr. test to bring down my chances to go to one of my top choices. After going on college board months ago the stats showing the SAT range for admitted freshman students, I wasnt where the median was but it did say “50% have above, 50% have lower than the average indicator” and I felt a bit better but from judging everyone’s answers I guess it is just not going to happen.

@Magnificent, why is that? I thought it would be the other way around
@Fromcalwithlove Thanks for the honest answer, much appreciated
@Timber I thought that would be an average chance. I hope she is accepted in the RD pool though :)

@collegebound: I thought that too, and I have no idea! But again, I’m going by what my counselor told me, so I might be completely off.

Did you take the ACT, by any chance?
