Chances of Getting into Georgia Tech/Emory?

I am an Asian male from Marietta, GA.
I go to a very competitive high school, the 2nd best in Georgia.
I am a very hard worker & dedicated student.
My GPA is currently 4.1 weighed (It will improve this year).
I have/will take AP Chemistry, AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Government, AP Microeconomics, AP Biology, AP Physics B, AP Spanish Language.
I have taken numerous honors courses along with those.
My SAT scores really do not reflect how smart & hard working I am as a student. This is due to test anxiety & I hope that these numbers will not cost my future.

Please inform me of my chances of getting into GT or Emory University and what I should do to improve.

Also, does Georgia Tech take any teacher recommendations?
Thank you very much for your time!

To my knowledge, Ga Tech does not require any teacher recommendations. A friend of mine applied last year and was surprised they didn't require any. As for your chances, Ga Tech puts a lot of weight on your SAT scores, and the math score looks low for an engineering school. Your ECs are great. As for Emory, I don't think I have enough experience with these chance threads to comment (by the way, I'm also from around Marietta :-) ).

(Verbal: 580 Math: 650 = 1230) + 4.1 + 8 AP courses - Asian = acceptance
Asian can be hard number so consider raising SAT score

Emory... doubt it unless you raise SAT score

Do you go to Pope, Walton, or Lassiter? I'd up your SATs a tad, because they get A LOT of apps from those schools, and the average scores at those schools are 1650+/2400. However, at my school, we had kids get in with scores lower than that. The acceptance rate for GT is 69% (but don't let that fool you into thinking "it's an easy school"), so it isn't getting in that's cut throat, but getting out.

As for Emory, up your scores to have a chance. It's ~35% acceptance rate, high average SAT, and many apps from East Cobb area as well (assuming you go to W-P-L-Wh).

Yeah, I go to Walton High School. The classes are pretty hard compared to other schools in Georgia. Will it help since I go to this school?

GA TECH
asian male(permanent resident) + 740 M + 520R + 3.96 UW GPA + weak ECs = ?
Please chance me. Thanks in advance.

Hey, I go to Walton too! Such a crazy school

Yeah getting into Tech isn't the problem.. getting out is.

I'd agree that your SAT scores are pretty low, and GT is a little more reluctant about Asians and in-state students nowadays. But I wouldn't dampen your chances.. all those AP classes and things sound good.

Hehe, I knew you were an East Cobb snob :-P

Being rigorous could help, but the fact that SO many people come from that area could hurt you. For example, I went to school in Cobb, also. But, my school is nowhere near the caliber of W-P-L-Wh (think South Cobb/West Cobb area). I was STAR student, top 10 ranked, and had a few good ECs under my belt. Obviously, I had a good chance of acceptance. Kids with much lower stats than mine, however, got in as well; you see, GT doesn't have many kids from that area applying let alone attending. So, they let in kids with lower requirements.

Same with Emory.

Walton, however, has kids applying to GT in droves. So, they are reluctant to accept kids as easily.
