1240 on the SAT (low, I know, but I ran out of time on the reading section. I took it once back in November and I’m planning to take it again in March and for a third time during the spring.
Pretty premature for an application process, but this is the gist of it! I’m planning to strengthen my ECs and test scores between now and next year. GPA is pretty much rigid now, but I can bring it to a 3.6 by the end of this semester (hopefully). Thanks guys!
I can say you are almost guaranteed acceptance into UGA with your EC’s and respectable GPA. GaTech application process is very difficult. I would say if you manage to take 6 more AP credits next year (total to 12), maintain a strong GPA, and bump your test scores up a bit, you will have a competitive application.
P.S. Take the ACT as well, some students score much better on the ACT than SAT.
Thanks for the advice. The thing about the ACT is that I’m a terrible test taker when it comes to timing. I heard the ACT is very restricted on timing so I may not be cut out for it? I’m not sure.
What are you trying to major in? (This question is crucial for GT.)
I think that UGA should be a easy match/slight reach for you but you need to improve those test scores. GT’s and Emory’s middle 50% ACT score is a 32.
Regarding test scores, I was a terrible test taker in general and the only true way to remedy that is to constantly practice. I also switched from the SAT to the ACT and received a much higher score so you should also look into the ACT.
Thanks man. I’m really not a standardized test kind of guy. And I was thinking of looking into the ACT but I really suck with time so would that be a problem? Anyway, double major in finance and accounting (as of now). Oh, and also, which of the two schools would you recommend for F&A?
