I'm a senior and I applied for Early Action at UGA.

My stats are:
3.0 core GPA
Cumulative SAT: 1860 / 2400
CR: 620
M: 560
W: 680
[SAT Verbal (CR + M score): 1180 / 1600]

My GPA is definitely on the low end, BUT I also took rigorous and upper-level classes in my school.
As far as APs, I will have taken 6 by the time I graduate including: AP Bio, AP Human Geography, AP US History, AP Physics C, AP Calc, and AP Psych.

Here's a quick run-down of the courses I took (including senior year):

4 credits of English
(9th-12th grade Literature)

5 credits of Math
(Alg. 1, Geometry, Alg. 2, Trig., AP Calc)

5 credits of Science
(Intro to Physics, Bio, AP Bio, Chem, AP Physics C)

5 credits of Social Studies
(AP Human Geography, Economics and American Government, World History, AP US History, AP Psychology)

3 credits of Foreign Language
(Spanish 1-3)

UGA's requirement is 16 credits and I will have 22 which is a plus.

Possible pros: rigorous classes, early application, decent SAT score, lots of credits, a sibling who went to UGA, in-state applicant, and minority student

Cons: GPA, GPA, GPA!

I have a feeling I am going to get deferred because of the low GPA, then (hopefully) get accepted in regular when they have other information about me (extracurriculars, recommendations, essays, etc.) and it won't be just about GPA + SAT and they'll see the whole picture.

What do you think?
