chances of getting into grad school CSU long beach

Hello, I currently go to UC Irvine for Electrical engineering. I am about to graduate in June. When i applied to CSULB, my gpa was a 2.9 but now it's a 3.01. My GRE scores are around average (Verbal: 147, Quant: 159, Writing: 4.0 on the revised test). I did do some research and mentioned it on the Statement of Purpose. According to the advisor, letters of rec are not needed so I didn't get any. What are my chances of getting into CSULB?

I applied around March and so far I've gotten neither an acceptance nor a rejection. I have also emailed the engineering graduate advisor a few times and haven't gotten an answer. This whole situation is making me nervous!

You should make a telephone call to the Office of Graduate Admissions at CSULB and talk to somebody there about your situation. I know that CSULB receives a huge number of applications and has a small admissions staff but it is the middle of May and they owe you an answer whether or not it is an acceptance or rejection.

I don’t know what CSULB’s admissions standards are, but 159 on the quantitative section is not average for an engineer. Average is going to be in the mid 160’s or higher.

At any rate, what was their official date they cited in which they would make admissions decisions? Don’t call them if that date hasn’t passed yet. I thought it was usually around mid-May so it may be that they are just sending them out this week or something.

well i couldn’t find any date that says they will make decisions by. it does say that application deadline is may 15th so i am thinking it may be after that. but i think i have heard people from other engineer majors being accepted. so you guys think i should still call?

the GRE score isn’t really important as they said it’s not required from what the advisor told me

bump…anyone else?

You should drop by and ask. CSULB’s admission is a joke in my opinion.
When I went to CSULB, they didn’t even ask me for a GRE as long as you have above 3.0.
