ED or Reg? ED, I think you’d get in. RD- maybe, maybe not. See this years reg. decision thread for details. Don’t expect GW to be your safety RD.

I’m going for ED, I’ve been wanting to go to this school for so long haha. It’s my #1 choice

And it is definitely not a safety. If anything it might be a reach for me (I am very negative haha). My safeties are: San Diego State, University of Denver, and Pepperdine

you’re in because of your rank/ GPA, but PLEASE do not include “No Fear” Award and “Best Rifliest”, it just looks silly.

If you apply ed1, I bet you won’t need those safeties.

I got in with similar stats except for SAT scores which I think you need to bump up. I only took 3 APs (my school only offers 4) and GW gave me great money. Good luck!

Well I’m focusing on my ACT, I took a pretest and was well above average from the other scores (with math and english being my highest-27, Reading-26, Science-26) but I’m going to study to get around a 29 composite score.

I’m in the intelligence field and my husband is in counter intelligence. Both of us started in the military as enlisted folks…its a great place to start. You get the training and the clearance, which are incredibly valuable in your job search. If you join the reserves instead of active duty, you can go to GW with Tution Assistance ($4500/yr). Also, with a clearance you will likely have a stand-out resume when applying for internships in the DC area. Its great that you recognize this ambition early on. If you have any other questions, PM me.

I believe that you are definitely in for ED. Just remember to focus on your essays, since you seem on target in all other areas. You have great credentials by your side :)

I am very confident on my essays and my recs. I really hope I get in :)

That’s great to hear! Good luck with it. I hope you get in as well :)

If my ACT happens to be kind of low (like a 26 or something) will that affect my chances? I’m taking the ACT this Saturday, I am confident but what if I do bad?

It won’t make or break your whole application, trust me. Try to do your best without focusing on what will happen if something doesn’t go as planned. Maybe I’ll see you around campus sometime in the future ~

I hope not, my friend also is trying to get into GWU. Her GPA is about a 3.73, UW: 4.17
*1 AP Class- she got an A
*2 AP next year
*President of the Choir
*Color Guard
*Winterguard
*Vice President of NHS
*Tennis
*Cheer
*Thespian of Theatre

Rank: 17/376 top 5% and she’s taking her SAT and ACT this fall, she wanted to know if she had a chance too. She wants to major in Psychology and Performance Arts

It will be a bit harder for your friend to get in (EDI is the way to go, really). She really needs to impress the admissions office with stellar essays and recommendations, since she seems to lack on competitive courses. And without SAT/ACT scores, none of us could really guess much.

Yeah, she was going to take AP English Lang and AP Biology but she was scared. I took 4 AP and got all A’s but I think it was because they were classes that I enjoy (I love English and Bio). She did really well at AP History, I luckily passed with a 92.5 because of my final I got the highest grade. I took AP Chem my sophomore year because I am ahead in science in my '11 class. Does she still have a chance because of her EC’s?

It really depends on the whole applicant pool for the Class of 2015. From what we saw this year, it’s getting more and more competitive to get in. And a lot of surprising things are going on… totally unexpected. You never know how other students are in comparison to yourself (universal you).

Well, hopefully applying ED will be easier to get into.

It always is, for a lot of schools not just GW. I’m curious to see what happens as rising seniors realize how much harder it has become to get into such schools nowadays. Will they begin applying ED/EA more and more? Who knows… maybe…
