I’m just wondering if my chances are in getting into Haas is good.
-Currently have a 3.91 GPA, should be a 4.0. Since I took a college class during high school for fun and did poorly, it lowered my college transcript.
-Going to finish all perquisites for Haas before I transfer.
-Will have IGETC complete
-Accounting/Econ Tutor at my Community College
-Member of an honors society
-12 hours of volunteer work
-Worked several other jobs on the side
I know it’s not the greatest for Haas, but just curious to what you guys may think. If you guys have any feedback with what I can add or improve on let me know, thanks!
First off, Haas does not accept IGETC. You need to go through their very specific breadth plan and make sure any IGETC courses fulfill the breadth list at your CCC. Not all match up.
GPA is good. They especially look for high marks in the major pre-reqs: Calc, Econ and business.
You cannot repeat any major pre-req course. They will only factor in the first grade.
You need the equivalent of three years of high school language (not two, which is IGETC). They say they will let you finish that one extra course at Berkeley, if needed.
You need a lot of ECs that show you in leadership roles that are business/finance related. Non-profit will also work. Simply being a member of a club or group isn’t t too strong. Accounting tutor is OK, but you’re weak in this area.
I would creep last years forum and take a look at some of the accepted stats. You’ll get a feel for what a competitive applicant looks like
Haas applicants: You can schedule a 20-minute virtual appointment with a Haas advisor on Oct 19, from 9-3PM.
