Hi rising senior in California, here to aske whether I should apply to EA with my stats, or it I have a chance to get into Howard University. Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.3UW 3.8W
RANK:Top 15% in school, top 25% class
SAT: 1350
ECs: Black Student Union 3y (VP, co-president)
School Site Council 2y
Basketball 4y; Varsity 2y (second team, division 1 champion)
Junior and Sophomore Council
Hospital volunteer 2y (student leader)
Speech and debate
CHS says enough (club about gun control)
Active volunteer in school sponsored events

Please let me know what you think and what I could do to improve. Thank you so much

@yahgirlcisseee The best way to assess your chances for acceptance into Howard University is to look at the latest student profile data available online (class of 2020) which shows your unweighted GPA is slightly below the average enrolled student (3.46), but your SAT score is almost 200 points higher than the average enrolled student and is well above the 75th percentile shown in the US News & World Report data. Your ECs look strong and if you decided to apply early action, my advice is to write a great essay for your application for admission. I would also suggest you give the SAT one last try if you can put time into preparation towards a higher score because it may help you draw more merit aid if accepted, which comes in handy (Howard COA is 46K for 2018-2019 school year).

@ChangeTheGame thank you so much

@yahgirlcisseee girl all you need is to score 50 points higher and you can get a FULL SCHOLARSHIP to howard!! i’m telling you, you NEED to retake it this upcoming school year. buy some review books if you haven’t already and study. it’s only august 2nd but you should start studying now and take the sat the first chance you get(i think september?) if you want to apply early action. and yes, you should apply early action.
