Chances of getting into JHU?

I know this is early but I really want to be prepared. I'm a sophomore and I want to go to JHU
My grades are all As and A+s and I am in the top 3 of my class. I am taking the ACT but my score hasn't been as high (low 30s). I have started 2 clubs at my schools, play tennis, do many after school activities. I have not done much volunteer work (100 or so hours all together) What else can I change to have a better chance? (I am having a lot of trouble getting my ACT score up so I'm not sure about that) Honest opinion of whether I have a chance or not?

pls help me out!!

If you continue on this track you will be a competitive applicant. That doesn’t mean you will be admitted because many well qualified applicants are not. You can improve your chances by writing a good essay. Think about it. Every admissions officer reads hundreds of essays, and many of them say pretty much the same thing. Be different;stand out yet be yourself. A good essay can make the difference among otherwise qualified applicants.

It also helps to be lucky. Admission to the most selective schools is a bit like playing craps. So improve your odds by applying to a range of schools. There are a lot of good schools out there.

Thank you so much! I’ll work on the essay!

High GPA > High ACT. You aren’t really explicit about what low 30s is as a composite of 30 vs 32 is much different.

I will take the ACT on Dec 14, but on practices I have gotten 32-33ish scores  I am not worried about my GPA as much though, I am good at school
