Chances of getting into McCombs at University of Texas

Hi! I’m a sophomore at Friendswood high school, I guess it’s a really competitive Texan school (moved over the summer and I still don’t understand the ins and outs of the school.) I want to go to McCombs school of business and wanted to know, even though it’s still quite early, what my chances would be of getting in.

GPA: 3.92
Weighted: School won’t tell
Rank: top 20%

Expected ACT: 30-32
Expected SAT: 1350 -1450

Extracurriculars: FBLA, President & founder of the stock market club, NHS, NTHS, BPA chapter President, Student Government, Young Republicans Club President, Varsity Soccer.

AP’s taken by senior year: 6
Pre-ap’s by senior year: 4

Comm service hours by senior year: 150+

Expected recommendations: very solid. One coming from my stock market club advisor (got doctorate at University of Houston.) Another from my BPA advisor

Awards: State finalist in impromptu speaking, torch award statesmen level, STEM endorsement, Bussiness & Marketing Endorsement, plus any awards in the future.

Does moving from another state increase chances of getting in (moved from Oregon, very different down in Texas…)

Also, I had a question concerning tuition, if I get into University of Texas, then McCombs, would I be paying tuition of University of Texas ($25,000 a year) and McCombs ($10,000 a year) or just McCombs tuition?

Don;t say things like expected SAT come back when you have more stats and results next year. Thank You.

Like the previous person said, no one can give you any sort of real answer so early without any scores or final rankings. Post later on in your junior year or senior year a “Chance me.” To answer your question though, you would be pay about $10,000 a year for tuition without any aid.

idk where you are dog. Im from cali and i got in, but I had a 34 ACT and was top 9% in my high school of IB diploma candidates. I also got regents scholarship interview at Berkeley, which is better than ut austin. You better go ham junior year

If you are looking for a merit based scholarship I would bypass UT all together, it’s a waste of time. My daughter scored a 35 on her ACT, graduated with a 4.0, auditioned and was accepted into their theatre dance program and all she was offered was 26K in loans per semester. They didn’t even waive out of state fees! Apparently the scholarship program at UT is needs based, not merit based. Admissions told me they have a holistic approach. I would love to see who was awarded scholarships based on this holistic approach!
