chances of getting into MIT as a transfer

I know that this thread is almost two years old, and I hope that kdd got in, but I just wanted to point out that there are no secret ways of getting around your MIT application. Period. End of story.

Almost all of the applicants to MIT are extremely over-qualified (well, for the typical college student anyways) and yet most are turned away. Some students with less then average GPA's or SAT scores are accepted while those with a picture perfect application are denied.

MIT wants students who will fit in with the MIT crowd (which has a lot to do with personality) and more importantly being able to understand doing things the MIT way. If all you want is a piece of paper from a prestigious school, I would suggest somewhere else.

As MIT states all over their website, they encourage those who feel that MIT is a fit, and not just a desire.

I don't know why I checked in to see these forums today, and hey, I found that someone has replied to my 2-year-old thread!

Anyways, I didn't get it. And I'm actually glad, because I'm fine where I am. I've better things to do here.
