Chances of getting into my dream school?

Hi everyone! I’m new to CC and I wanted to get your opinions on my chances of getting into my dream school: Boston College. I am a white male and I go to a public high school.

•GPA (100 pt. scale): 95 unweighted;101 weighted
•2020 SAT score; 28 ACT (will retry the ACT)
•Course rigor: 4 AP classes total(APUSH, AP Physics, AP language and composition, AP world history (10th grade)); All other classes are Honors classes; “wind ensemble” (my school’s most advanced band).
•extracurriculars: 8 Honor societies, Italian club, class government (treasurer in 10th grade), student government, history club, English club, president of English Honor society, treasurer of Business Honor Society, 100+ hours of community service, advanced outside-of-school Orchestra member (play at well-known stages such as Carnegie Hall), volleyball team, outside-of-school volleyball club (play around the nation at national tournaments).
•accepted (and will attend this summer) into the Columbia University Summer Program for High School Students

I am a junior, so all of these can be looked at as “…so far” (if you know what I mean). Thank you so much!!! :slight_smile:

I’m not sure if this matters, but I do not HAVE to apply for financial aid. Also, I want to major in business (maybe finance/information systems?), so I will be applying to BC’s Carroll School of Management. Thanks again!

I think you can definitely get in, but to be safe, I think try to increase your SAT or ACT score. Other than that, you’re doing pretty good in the extracurricular area so I wouldn’t worry about it too much (: What are you ranked?

Thank you AnniiT! :slight_smile: my school rankings do not come out until October of senior year, but I feel that I am hovering around #30 (+/- 5) out of ~680 students. My goal is to be top 25, they get a special place in the graduation ceremony! Lol ;). And what SAT score do you think would be a respectable score at Boston College? Thanks again!

I would say around 2200 or so at most. And wow, your ranking is pretty good! I got a B in one of my honor classes and I went down 30 places due to it which really pissed me off. Anyway, keep up the ranking and you should be fine!
