I want to get into the School of Communications, more specifically, into the radio/film/television program. What are my chances? I am dying to know!

It doesn't seem feasible that your GPA can be 4.92 getting a C, a few B's, and having a 13% class rank.

Well, our grading scale puts AP classes at a 6.0 out of 5.0, and since I have gotten mostly A's in my AP classes, it works.

Anyone? Please? Chances? Tips on getting in?

Recalculate your W GPA to a 5-point scale (that's the one that everyone knows).

Oh sorry, I didn't write that that was my W GPA. My non-weighted I believe is around 4.57. Chances?

That's not unweighted -- unweighted is out of 4. Again, calculate your UW and W GPA on the standard scale: A=4, B=3, etc. for UW, and A=5, B=4, etc. for W.

Northwestern: Reject

Well I'm very confused about your school's GPA calculations, but considering 13% class rank, I unfortunately have to say that you are on the borderline, most likely out. Make sure you have other schools in mind, like U of I maybe, which would be a good fit for you I think.

OK, sorry for the confusion, I converted my GPA and weighted is 3.96 and nonweighted is 3.67

Also I would like to stress that I am trying to get into the School of Communication, specifically into the radio/tv/film program. I don't know if that makes a difference, but it doesn't seem (and I have no idea if this is true) that that particular school would be as strict grade-wise. A friend of mine got in with a composite score of 28 on his ACT and his GPA was roughly the same.

I also have three amazing letters of rec (one from my counselor, one from my AP World History teacher, and one from my German teacher; each have known me for all four years of high school). I am also a pretty good writer so my essays will be strong.

Now that all of that is cleared up, chances? Please?

EDIT: I am also applying ED, if that makes any difference. And I have visited twice and am going to do this group interview thing, which I believe will increase my chances.

You should have a pretty good shot at NU if you do ED. Not being in the top 10% won't hurt you too much, as long as your schedule was rigorous, since NU has ~80% students in the top 10% of their graduating class. Okay GPA/rank + average ECs + interesting accomplishments + good ACT score + ED = pretty good shot. Make your essays really great and you just might get in.

I am taking four AP classes this year (AP Art History, AP Statistics, College Western Lit and Thought [which is double enrollment at a college] and AP Psychology). I am also doing an independent study for German, so my class load is pretty tough this year.

Any more opinions? Please?
