hello! i'm a high school junior and i'm hoping to get into nyu. my dream of all dreams is columbia, but i'm vastly underqualified for that. still, if you could chance me on columbia without breaking my heart, i'd appreciate it.

i'm a girl, and i was born in india before moving to the us. first one in the family to go to college in america.

stats:
sat - 2230. verbal 750, writing 800, math 680. i don't know if it's considered official if you take it as a sophomore, but i'm taking it again this october so i can improve my verbal and math scores.
psat - 200. not official, this was taken in soph year. i haven't taken it in junior year yet. i think 200 is somewhere between 95th and 96th percentile for california? i'm not sure.
sat 2 - taken none yet, but i plan to take sat 2 in chemistry, english, math, and gov.
gpa - 3.85 unweighted.
junior year - ap language and comp, ap chem, ap stats, regular us history, french 3. so far, all a's.
senior year - ap lit, physics honors, ap gov and econ, french 4 honors, ap bio, biotechnology or journalism (regional occupational programs). i don't know if i'll get all a's, but i hope to!

clubs
- pr committee for key club
- active member in french club and fashion club.

extracurriculars
- first degree black belt in tae kwon do and going for third, compete and place in local tournaments.
- member of nordstrom fashion board since june 2010 and will continue to be one until june 2012.
- was pr officer for local teensreach for a year.
- fashion intern at a noteworthy blog.

i don't know what else makes me noteworthy. . i've played electric guitar since i was 10, volunteered in fbla and csf in freshman year, took art classes for nine years, taken college courses at the academy of art for two years in a row (four courses last year, three this year), and tutored at the local middle school when i was a freshman.

i will also be taking various college courses beginning this fall at the local college, including psychology, sociology, the history of rock and roll, dead philosophers, and italian. since i have no math senior year, i will probably be taking linear equations or differential equations at the college.

i'm not sure what to major in. . . if admitted, i'd love to enroll into columbia's school of journalism. i'm very into writing, as well as psychology, hence the college classes.

if you took the time to read all this, thank you :]
