Chances of getting into NYU Tisch for Film Production

Hi guys! I am a current junior in high school and I was wondering if you could help me out. I hope to apply to NYU (Tisch: Film Production) in 2011 and I was wondering how my stats look. Granted, my film portfolio is very minimal, but I intend on building on that. I also intend to take four APs next year, excel on the SAT (obviously) and go to a summer film program (at NYU or Emerson, if I get into either). I also was hoping if you could tell me what I should do to look more acceptable to NYU. I know that there is no "formula" but just whatever you think. Thanks so much!

Grades are well above average, good non-film ECs. Take challenging courses next year, and try to get some film credibility through festivals, internships, and what not and you have a great shot. You need to stand out in your essays too. Alot easier said then done obv.

Chance me for film production class fall 2011. I made a thread.

Fantastic application. You are really interesting as an applicant, which is one of the most important things at any school. Write good essays, do well on your standardized tests, and make a solid film, and you shouldnt have a problem. I dont think “film credibility” is as important as jjohn does, as Tisch wants to take students with passion and give them the knowledge, tools, and connections to succeed in that passion.

A little late, but I agree with mattbg, I guess I meant to say film passion and creativity.

Thanks guys! Yeah I’m hoping to enter some local film festivals soon to get my film ECs up. Jjohn, could you post me a link of the chancing thread? Thanks.

Instead of my chance thread–here is a thread that I made for Tisch Film applicants fall 2011. It may be a good resource for you once we all get our decisions.

Thanks man! I’ll be sure to post/check this out.
