Chances of Getting into Penn State University Park

hello. i’m a high school senior (class of 2016) and i’ve seriously been considering penn state so i want to know how high or low my chances are of getting in. most likely would be applying to smeal college of business.
Stats:
SAT:1890
SAT IIs: havent taken. plan on taking spanish and math 2
GPA: UW:3.4
Rank: not exactly sure but top 5% most likely

Location/Person:

Ethnicity: mexican
Gender: female

EC: Environmental Club, community service club, kbg (anti-smoking campaign), national honor society, reading olympics,

Other stuff: i have a part time job, i am a first generation, i was born in mexico, involved in a gifted program, 5 aps including this year and all my other classes have been gifted or honors, was president of environmental club sophomore year

if anyone has any input i would appreciate it. also, if anyone has any suggestions of other colleges that would be a good fit i would appreciate it. thank you.

Apply for Summer and you should be fine.

do you think there’s any way i could get into the fall semester though?

My D applied to summer but they put in her in fall. Smeal is competitive. I think its borderline for a Fall.

Apply undecided for fall, with the option of summer. They will evaluate you first for fall and if you don’t fit there, they will evaluate you for summer. DUS (undecided) is less competitive than Smeal and you can still work on all of your entry to major requirements while in DUS and it won’t put you behind for Smeal.

@jlhpsu your comments were very helpful. after reading up on DUS i think that i will be applying there for the fall semester with summer option. it seems like DUS might be a better fit than smeal for me. hopefully i get in for fall but if not i’ll just weigh out my choices and take it from there. once again, thanks!
