Hello,
I am in the 7th grade at a Catholic Middle School, and would like to know my chances of getting into Phillips Andover...
My grades for the 1st quarter were 3 A's & 4 B's with all 1's in conduct, effort, and participation. (1's mean excellent) I just got my 2nd quarter report card.. Improved ALOT. I got all A's and 1 B+ along with keeping up the 1's in every class and elective. I have been in the National Junior Honor Society since 5th grade, with a 93% average in all my classes... By the end of this year, i will have completed 50 hours of volunteer work. I am striving for all A's the next two quarters and all of 8th grade. I have been doing piano since the 3rd grade, I love to play! For sports, I have done, Flag football (2 years), soccer (1 year), basketball (2 years), track (1 year, I am looking to do track all 4 years of high school), and cheering (going on my 3rd year). I am also involved with in my schools Pep Club! Thank you!

Take the SSAT in your 8th grade bcuz it’s very important

Yeah, I will be taking the SSAT in November.

Anyone else??? I really would like to know my chances… Thanks to anyone who read it !! :)

Livieliz9, I am also searching for many questions I have about HADES. I am sure you know the basic: less then 20% acceptance rate, 80 average (higher score recommended) SSAT with EC. Athlets may be pardon with bit lower GPA, but it should be 3.85+ out of 4 from averaging 6th and 7th grade not just per semester or etc. SSAT are normally taken Oct and Nov of 8th grade which determines greatly toward your acceptance plus excellent recommendation letters from both English and Math teachers. Personal interview also is heavily emphasized.

With these in mind, I think you have every chance to be accepted into Andover as the next person who is applying, but you have better chance then those students who relies on their parents researches.

Keep up the great attitude; I know you’ll make it.

PlsiWannaKnow, wow thank you!!! I appreciate it

anyone else??

I think you sound like a very strong applicant who stands a chance at Andover. However, Andover is not the “end-all-be-all” of boarding school, and I urge you to browse [Boarding School Review - College-Prep & Jr. Boarding Schools](http://www.boardingschoolreview.com) and the hidden gems thread. Andover is very hard to get into even for top candidates.
Just to get you started here a few schools that may be of interest:
NMH
St. Marks
Peddie
Taft
Tabor
Brooks
Kent
Emma Willard

Also Loomis,Hill,Dana Hall,Miss Hall,Blair,Cate,…etc

I used to teach at an international boarding school in Switzerland and was intimately involved in admissions. Why exactly do you want to go to Andover? Have you visited? Sat in on classes? etc
