I'm currently a first year student at the New School (eugene lang) and am trying to transfer into Pratt for their bArch. First semester, I pulled out I believe a 2.7 gpa, I only had 3 classes though and kind of bombed one. This semester, I'm doing a little better.

Ironically, in High School, my classes were much MUCH more difficult but I graduated with about a 3.4 gpa, with a 3.7 or so my junior and senior years.

I understand Pratt's not ridiculously competitive but a 2.7 will not look good to them. I got I think around a 1900 on my SATs and submitted a portfolio, which I think will be the only thing going for me. I am NEVER cocky, but my portfolio is DEFINITELY impressive. It's mostly 2-d design and intricate drawings.

So my questions are, how much emphasis do you guys think Pratt places on portfolios? Being that they don't require them, I assume not much - which sucks for me. And overall what do you think my chances of getting in are considering all the aforementioned?

I Really want to study arch in this general area (nyc, CT etc) But there aren't many good schools here that i'd have a chance of getting into, Pratt seems to be my best bet and my favorite so let me know what you guys think.

Thanks!
