I was wondering what my chances are of getting into Princeton University.
SAT: 1800 (As of last year before my SAT classes)
Rank: 1 out of 356
GPA: 4.0, unweighted
SAT Subject tests: 670 on one and 650 on the other
Activities, etc: I’ve been doing XC for two years (JV). I have done model united nations for 3 years, and I will be president of my school club this year. I started youth and government a year ago, so this year will make it two. I am a member of NHS. I am a graduate from the chamber of commerce youth leadership. I volunteer at the local hospital for two years and I have over 150 hours of community service. I am also a Lieutenant Governor for Key Club, and I do many things such as fundraising for the Eliminate project. I am the founder of the book club at my school. I am a private tutor (free) for the SAT. I am also a LEDA Scholar. I’ve also taken many AP classes, 12 in total. My counselor told me I have the hardest workload possible all four years.
Essays: I will have really strong essays and letters of recommendations.
Background: I am a white male. I am a first generation college student. My mother is a single mother and my father is not in my life. My mom is a cashier, so my family lives on about 25,000 a year. There for awhile, we didn’t have a house, so we had to live with my grandma and some family friends.
So I’d like honest and truthful responses to whether I could get into Princeton University or not. Please be brutally honest Thanks!!
Apparently you are not a good test taker, otherwise, with your top acadmics, you should do much better. Definitely try ACT if not done yet! You need to improve your Subject tests as well if you are eager to go to Princton.
Woohoo!!! You go @eggystraws. Can’t help but laugh at the replies on this thread. College admissions is truly a holistic process - this young man has worked long and hard through many challenges in his life, and that is the mark of a qualified applicant. Test scores is just a part of it.
Congrats! @eggystraws :)) This proves that you are obviously a qualified, well-rounded student and you should be proud of yourself. You proved the people above(who said you have no chance at getting admitted) wrong. I don’t understand the person above who said you’re “not a good test taker”, an 1800 is above average for the SAT.
