Yeah, I visited there too. It certainly has a better women to men ratio than WPI, but the city sucks ass I heard. But for engineering, RPI and WPI seem to be good. Did you apply to WPI as well?

You should get in, but if you can, retake the SAT and get that verbal score up

I live about 5 minutes from Troy, and yes, the entire area sucks badly - there is nothing at all to do aside from drink, although going downtown, you can buy just about any drug you want (although I assume that this is not a high priority for you). Troy is a pretty rough place, not like NYC or anything, but fights and theft are common in the neighborhoods, and I would never dare walk around after dark.

There is no reason why you shouldn't be accepted at RPI. I am applying there as well. Yeah, I heard Troy basically just sucks, nothing to do except freeze your ass off.

According to Princeton Review, the RPI acceptance rate is 80%, and you look like a fine candidate. Only thing you need to do is bring up that SAT--their average is 1310. Good luck!

I plan on going to RPI next year. It's a great school. REALLY bad town though. The "Troylet" is not my first choice for a pleasant environment. Oh well. Best of luck to you. RPI has a high acceptance rate because the kids that apply there know they want to go there and have the requirements.

ohhh yea.... what happens is that track is everyday.... but ice hockey is not..... because the ice is too expensive to rent everyday (its like $ 300 and hour or something).. and when we do have it is usually at night so it doesnt interfere with track :)
