I am currently a Junior, and with college applications coming right around the corner, I was wondering if someone could help me calculate my chances for Rice University? I currently have a 4.63 GPA, I’m in the top 10% of my class (9% for me), as well as I have scored a 1380 on my SAT. I know that area might not be the strongest, but I have also founded my own club, as well as I have played the violin for over 9 years, and I am in Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Student Council. I have a job at a college prep place, as well as I have about 30 hours, if not more, of community service. I know this school is probably a reach, but I know colleges look at you as an all around person, so who knows?
Keep up your grades and ECs, improve SAT, demonstrate your loving adoration for Rice and hope for the best. Rice practices a holistic approach and you do have good grades so you definitely have a chance.
Some students do better on the ACT than the SAT. Try taking the ACT and/or the SAT again. Visit Rice. Sign up for an overnight visit and interview on campus early in the fall of senior year. If Rice comes to your high school or area, attend the events. These are the latest admission stats Rice has published. https://admission.rice.edu/apply/freshman/admission-statistics
