Looking around this forum for a little bit, I'm not as academically successful. But I like to think I have a decent chance of getting into Rowan via Early Decision. But I'm new to applying to colleges. What do you think?

GPA:
Freshman year - 3.45
Sophmore year - 3.3
Junior year - 3.35 ?
Senior year - ?

Honors:
Freshman year - None :(
Sophmore year - 1
Junior year - 2
Senior year - 3

SAT scores:
I just took them again today, so hopefully I did better. Here's what I did my first time.
C.R. - 570
Math - 600
Writing - 570

Activities:
Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track. Participation in German club, and going to Germany with the school this summer.

Community Service:
None, I'll have to do some stuff this summer, or remember some things I did. But right now nothing comes to my head.

Working:
Had a job since sophmore year. Work on Sunday's, since I have running every other day. So I keep really busy. In the summer I work almost every day.

Can't really think of anything else, if colleges take anything else into account please say something. Also, if you could tell me how to improve. That'd be great.

Other Colleges I'm looking at:
Ithaca
Rutgers - New Brunswick
York
West Chester
Stockton
Rowan - #1 & ED

I think you’ll get into all those schools with your gpa and sat scores.Rutgers maybe not but if you do community service i’m sure you’ll get in.I also think u should add a harder stretch school to your list(Maybe Udel?). Just my oppionion though, because those schools on your list are all in your range, and it never hurts to apply. Also Ramapos a great school in nj to

ps. I’m a junior in H.S and i visited york colllege in penn, and i didn’t really like it there but maybe it just wasn’t right for me. Good luck!

i am going to be an upcoming senior in highschool. My highschool career has been very good and i would consider myself with very good grades. Freshman year i had all A’s and B’s and maybe one C. Sophmore year, as i matured Became mainly A’s but some B’s. Finishing off my junior year, i enrolled in a math team and ive been activly involved in football all 4 years. Junior year, which is the mainly hard year i have achieved straight A’s.

The question i have is, at the current time, i have a 3.49 weighted gpa, and next year i will be taking an AP class and 1 honors class. Engineering is what i want to major in and my SAT’s are 1450. Is it possible to get my gpa up to atleast a 3.6 3.7 by the end of my senior year and will i be able to get into the college of engineering with these credentials. i also rank 61 out of 219 in my class and i plan to take my SAT’s again and ACT.

Also, i am planning to apply for an internship at any engineering firm that is willing to show me the ropes at becoming an engineer. Will this help? Any answers would greatly help considering Rowan is at the top of my list at the moment. Thanks

I went to visit Rowan and I really liked it but I am not sure if I will be able to get in. In September I am starting my senior year and my high school career has been alright. Each year, however, my GPA has decreased but I have a lot of extra cirriculars. Since Freshman year I have been on the Class Council, I have written a few articles for the school newspaper and I am involved in Habitat for Humanity. Freshman and Sophmore year I was on the soccer team, Sophmore year and Junior year I was on both Winter and Spring track teams. I started volunteering the begining of Sophmore year at the Hospitol and I still volunteer there every week. The summer before Sophmore year I started working at the local YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor and I still work there also. Currently my GPA is a 3.0. Thanks.

If your 1450 SAT is just Math & Critical Reading, you have a very good shot at Rowan Engineering and many other schools; if it includes the Writing score, it might be tough. Math score is important as Calculus is a test even for the best math minds. Rowan is very selective in engineering (usually accepting only about 30-40 newcomers in each of the schools per year).

If your scores don’t quite match the requirements for Engineering at Rowan or other places, you might look at colleges that offer Engineering Technology majors. Normally very hands-on tech training with less calc. Also sought highly by recruiters. Good luck!
