So I'm barely starting college this year (I'll be starting at a CC) and I already have 18 credits from High School that will transfer over. I am currently registered to take 4 courses that are on the recommended list, so I will have 30 credits by the end of my first semester.

Now, I know I need a good GPA but what is one guaranteed (or somewhat close) for acceptance into the RTF program? Also, should I fill out my application as soon as possible or wait until this semester is over so I can say I have the full 30 credits and whatnot?

Any other advice or info is welcome!

Thanks!

You might want to check some requirements again. I think you need 30 credit hours in residence at a college, not anything claimed from high school or AP tests, in order to transfer to UT. The reason I mention this is I knew a girl who went to ACC (Austin Community College, right by UT) this past schoolyear, and is unable to transfer for one more semester because she only took like 26 hours or something at ACC, and assumed some AP test credit would count towards the 30. It doesn’t.

Now, she might be wrong and I might be misinformed, but I would recommend looking at some requirements or calling somebody at UT admissions just to be sure.

I’ll probably call to ask just to be safe, but the dual credit classes I took have the same course number as the requirements’ course numbers. I do not know if that makes a difference.

Since you are an external transfer the RTF department doesn’t actually look at your application at all, the general UT admissions does. So there is basically nothing special you can do to impress RTF. You just gotta get into UT and put RTF as your first choice and hope you get into that department.

You need 30 TRASNFERABLE credits, so you should be okay.

One of my friends who got in had the same Dual Credit classes as me and all 18 credits are transferring, so if they do that with him I’d have the same treatment with my credits right?

Also if transferring means I have to go through General Admissions…what does that mean? Like I know who they are and what not, but how come I have to go through them and is there anything specific I should do to give me consideration? Also how hard is it to get in?
