I’m a junior from Los Angeles county area
My overall CSU GPA is 3.89
Sophomore year - Honors Biology and Honors English for both classes (A’s both semesters)
Junior year - AP Psychology and APUSH (A’s both semesters)
Senior year - Honors English, AP Computer Science, maybe AP Stats, maybe AP Government
My ACT score is 26. I’m hoping I can retake it and get a better score.
Also, I was thinking of Cal Poly SLO and CSULB. Hopefully you guys can chance me for those too (but I’ll ask on those sections also). Thanks a lot! (Also, is it worth taking a math during senior year? I want to be a biology major, so I might not take a math next year)
You have a good chance with SDSU and CSULB, but SLO is a reach. Retake your ACT or take the SAT for a stronger chance. My son has a 3.7 and a 30 ACT , 1850 SAT and got wait listed for SDSU, accepted to CSULB (where he is going) and rejected form SLO just for comparisons sake.
All CSU’s use the Eligibility index to rank applicants based on major except SLO.
(CSU GPA X 200) + (ACT comp x10). Your EI is 1056. For SDSU, around a 1050+ is competitive. For CSULB, around 1000+ is competitive. SLO uses an MCA score calculation which you can find posted on the SLO forum.
I agree with @sunsmom that you need to bump up your test scores for SLO. Average for the School of Science last year was a CSU GPA (including Freshman grades) of 4.06 and ACT of 30. Biology was the most popular major in the School of Science and Mathematics with around 4000 applicants and an expected acceptance rate of 14%.
